Very Different from normal Risk. Cute, casual novelty for Dune fans.
Other than sharing a name and some basic concepts, this is a very different game than traditional Risk. If you’ve played Game of Thrones Risk, that’s more like traditional risk in the way that you complete a turn. Dune risk instead uses a different mechanic with cards, and an oppression/vision pathway mechanic. There are fewer pieces and no reinforcements. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but don’t go into it expecting Risk. It is easy to learn the new mechanics after a little consulting the guidebook. It plays much faster than a traditional game of risk which can be a positive or negative depending on your preferences. It’s a good novelty for Dune fans, and more of a casual board game. I think it could do to be at a lower price point for the type of game that it is and how much content is included. It’s more simple than I was expecting for this price point, and the artwork is primarily photos from the movie. I got this as a Christmas gift for my Dune obsessed partner, and I would purchase it again.

Not the Risk I remember
In my opinion the pieces were cheaply made the map felt very limited. Personally, it didn't feel like a Risk game at all. The rules were confusing and the game was not worth the price.

A Fun Stragegy Game - Entertaining Dune Game
This game is NOT like normal Risk at all. The game is more of a strategy game. The rules are slightly more difficult than normal Risk, but still approachable for people who are not big board game players. One side plays the Harkonnen/Empire the other plays the Atreides/Fremen. The game takes place roughly at the same time as the movie Dune II. The Harkonnen side attempts to eliminate all of the Fremen fighters. The Fremen side attempts to get the nuclear weapons and attack the capital city. The pieces are cheap looking and feeling. However the gameplay is fun! I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Dune and board games.

Buy a different boardgame.
Going to be honest- it is not like risk at all, I think they only called it that to sell more. The game feels pretty unfulfilling and is not satisfying at all to win. The mission tasks on the side are kinda pointless, and I definitely don’t think its worth the money. You get more worth from a unique monopoly game or a completely new game in general. Seems like the developers put more work into the box artwork and pieces than an actual game idea. Dissapointed and would not recommend. The whole game felt like “okay, so whats the point”…. might just display the pretty box.
