Excellent Laptop with Nearly Zero Compromises
TL;DR: A phenomenal laptop for the price. After shopping many options in this price range, you cannot go wrong with this device. Good performance, good battery life, excellent screen, good build quality ... just buy it, you won't regret it! First, I am writing this review from the perspective of someone who has always had high end gaming laptops, or well spec'd Macbook Pros. I am a software engineer and a gamer, and I like to have top tier tech for my day to day use. This is the first time I have made the jump to a thin and light Windows laptop. I have always wanted either high performance windows laptops at the cost of battery life, or a Macbook at the cost of x86. Well, if this is you, look no further. This laptop is nothing short of excellent. First, the form factor is incredible for day to day use. It weighs less than my iPad pro, and the charger adds very little to the weight. The build quality is a solid 8/10. It is not solid metal feeling like a Macbook, but the aluminum chassis adds all the necessary rigidity and quality feel that I need. The screen has next to no flex, the display is solid and does not wiggle when typing (my pet peeve) AND folds out 180 degrees! The keyboard deck is solid and has very little flex, and the trackpad is very smooth and responsive. About as good as a trackpad on a Windows machine can get, short of haptic. The performance of lunar lake is impressive to say the least. At first, I was skeptical about Intel's decision to ditch hyper threading, but their engineers clearly knew what they were doing. Unless your workload is very dependent on multi core performance, the 258v is a phenomenal processor. The high single core performance makes general usability very snappy and responsive, things like opening an app or simply logging in are almost instantaneous. Additionally, during my installation process and constantly pushing the CPU to higher clocks on battery, I almost never heard the fans turn on (when they did, they were very quiet) and used the laptop on my lap very comfortably feeling almost no heat. Short on gaming: the Arc 140V is capable of playing many games at lower resolutions and settings. No, this laptop will not replace your gaming rig with a dedicated GPU, but for a little WoW or GW2 on the go, it is more than enough. Battery life is stellar, even while downloading all of my programs, running through installations, and running various windows updates, I saw less than a 40% drop in battery. This was over the course of several hours. I have high hopes for the day to day use case when I am not constantly pushing the CPU. I will update the review when I have a better idea of what to expect. The display is great. I am not a fan of the glossy displays found in various other laptops, other than the Macbook which has an anti glare coating. I wanted a very specific display, QHD and high refresh rate. Why is this so hard to find in an ultraportable? Well, this laptop has it. 144hz, 16:10, QHD .... ding, ding, ding! It is a sharp display, and while not as color accurate as an OLED, it has plenty of contrast for daily tasks. Also, BRIGHTNESS... all of these $1000 laptops out there with 60hz screens and 200-300 nits? WTH? This display is in the high 400s in several reviews, and it shows. I am comfortably using the display at 60% brightness indoors, and see no need to go higher. The only cons: - matte screen doesn't feel as "premium" as some other devices - no hyperthreading = lower multi core perf. - if that matters to your workflow - keyboard backlight is "meh" - down firing speakers sound okay, but could be better - wifi 6E (good card, but should be 7) Overall, I highly recommend this laptop. After trying out several competitors, namely the Dell Inspiron and XPS series, the Yoga 9i, HPs Spectre line, and even Asus' own Vivobook, I do not regret my purchase whatsoever. I think this is the best option out there - for the price!

ASUS ExpertBook P5, one tough full-featured competitor
There are lots of choices out there for a 14 inch ultra light laptop. I needed to stay in the Intel environment to avoid any software issues with some of the older programs I need, and I wanted plenty of machine resources (RAM and storage). This unit is an ASUS ExpertBook P5 Copilot+ PC AI Laptop, Intel® Core™ 7 Processor 258V (Series 2), 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, WiFi 6E, Windows 11 Home, Misty Grey, P5405CSA-DH76. The ExpertBook series are built and tested to last longer than other competitors and it includes a 3 year warranty. It also features a second SSD slot for storage expansion if you need more than 1TB. Visit the ASUS website and see the extra measures they take building and testing the ExpertBook series, and then compare the rest.

cannot disable secure boot in BIOS
I really liked this notebook, but unfortunately, I couldn't disable Secure Boot in the BIOS to perform a bare-metal backup. I reached out to technical support, but they couldn’t help me and said it wasn’t possible. I was quite disappointed and had to return it. Otherwise, it could have been a great notebook.

Vintage feel
Notebook is all plastic, bulky and heavy. I didn’t turn it on, just closed the box and shipped back. It felt like thick cheap plastic that chips easily. Like its 20 years old. We purchased another Asus Expert notebook.
