I just broke my phone I'm looking to buy this will it go on my Verizon contract without any problems

This is a year old question but to anyone else that has this question , If you buy a phone that takes the same size sim card as your current one , just swap sim card to new phone and it will work , will even show up on your Verizon acct as the new model of phone , just did this not long ago , went from a LG K20 to s Samsung S6 no fees not issues works great

so lets say i buy the phone do i just take it to verizon and have them flip my old phone on to this one or can i do it my self how does that work?

Yes. Just pop in a Verizon SIM card and it guides you through the whole process. If not just call customer service from the phone with your new sim.

I personally have this phone and love it; I want to get it for my son as well. Is it new, used or refurbished? Warranty?

It would be a great item to get your son. I do think that they are either refurbished or used. But make sure to get one that says "like new" or "very good". I purchased mine and it was in "very good" condition, one step under "like new"...but when I got it, it literally looked like someone opened a brand new box and just put the phone in another box. Perfect condition. I love it.
