Perfect Writing Pen
I won't lie, I'm a pen snob. Or I love a good pen and these are the best of the best. They are sturdy, strong and give just the right amount of ink. You'll be like "oh I need to get my good pen" and it's these- no more cheap, lousy pens that scratch. For the price, these are a steal and are perfect in black. I don't need a click, the cap will do for an actually perfect writing utensil. Pens for life!

Great pens for regular notebooks, but not so great for coated paper brands like Rhodia
The 0.5mm Vision Elites are excellent pens. They write reliably with no skipping and good smoothness, which is the highest praise I imagine can be given to a stick pen. But in terms of smoothness, you'll see inconsistent results out of the 0.5mm pens, depending on the paper you use. On high quality papers like Rhodia or Clairefontaine, these pens literally skate across the page. I can't write on Rhodia with these pens. It's way too slippery, and these pens are too light. It offers no control whatsoever. But on cheap printer paper or composition notebook paper, the story changes. These papers produce drag when you write because the paper fibers are fluffier--not flat, as though they've been laminated, like you find on coated papers. The drag actually makes for a wonderful writing experience with these pens, which in a weird way makes them better for use on cheap or fibrous papers but worse for use on nicer, coated notebook papers. The 0.5mm line is by no means ultra-fine. It's bolder than the "Fine" 0.7mm version of the Uni-Ball Jetstream, but not by much. It's a comfortable thickness for writing on narrow ruled notebooks. I find it too fine for wider ruled notebooks, especially the 7-10mm notebooks found from European vendors, but line thickness is a matter of preference. The point here is that the line created by these "micro" pens is by no means micro. It's much closer to a normal rollerball in "fine". Lastly, the aesthetic. These pens look ok. Patently ok. There's definitely plenty of room to up the look. Uni's Jetstream pens are very sharp looking, and I know they can do better in this regard.
