it works
This thing worked exactly as described, I can see how it might only function well for a couple of jobs, but for the price I find that perfectly acceptable. I used it to install 300 tacks, and the slots are getting a little loose, but like I said, for the price-I'll take it!

Ignore the negative reviews. This thing is the only way to get straight, evenly spaced nailhead trim.
I'm not sure where all these negative reviews are from. This thing is literally the only way I was able to add nailhead trim to my bench. First, I tried hammering them in individually. Both with a rubber mallet and a tack hammer. That was a complete disaster. It is impossible to get the nails evenly spaced and straight, and the nails bend as soon as you try to tap them in. Then I found this thing, but decided I was too impatient to wait for shipping so I tried some diy cardboard version I found online. I'll spare you the details, but it was laughable. I finally broke down and ordered this, assuming it wouldn't work and I would just give up on the trim or order some of that awful nailhead trim strip stuff that always looks fake. It arrived...and it worked. Really well. The nails are straight and evenly spaced. This is my first nailhead project and it looks like a professional did it. To loosen up the slits I stuck nails in and pulled them back out twice before beginning. This is seriously the only way to go. Buy this thing now if you're doing nailhead trim. (And use an awl, NOT a regular hammer or rubber mallet. Just trust me.)

Great idea tough to use.
This is a great idea to speed up the process of hammering tacks in a line. It's difficult to line up and for shorter tacks it pulls them out as you try to move the holder.

Okay
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Helps some but I just don’t like how hard it was to pull away from the tacks

Unable to use
My latest project is reupholstering 2 throne chairs with heavy upholstery fabric incl alligator-like leather. The original fabric on the chairs had nail head strips. I wanted something different for the reupholstery. I'm heartbroken that I can't use this because I can't use the tacks I purchased. When I tried nailing them into the frame with both a tack and regular hammer. These tacks/nails won't go into the wood. The shaft bends, and the tack become unusable. It looks like I have to pre-drill the holes 1st, which is too much trouble for me right now.

Might need to buy more than 1.
This really is an amazing little tool. We have never re-upolstered before, so I don't know how it works with out the tool. It seems to only last 300 tacks, then it gets stretched out and no longer holds the tack secure. For us this was 1 chair and we have another chair to go. The tool took a long time to get to me and it is a bit pricey for 1 chair, so we are going to keep trucking on.

Holes are too small to fit tacks great concept though
I reupholstered eight of my mother’s dining room chairs. Each chair took 100 tacks. I bought this product to help out with spacing the tacks but it did not work as expected. The tacks were a standard brass tack that I had to force into the device, it didn’t seem to matter how much I hammered the tack in, when I tried to remove the device as instructed it pulled the tacks out. I suppose I could’ve used a small drillbit and made the holes a little bigger in the device, but it was easier to just put the tacks in by hand using needle nose, pliers. It might be that this was not new wood, and the product might work better if the chairs were newer, and the wood was stronger. Not sure. Good concept.
