A veteran of the acclaimed hip-hop labels Definitive Jux, and Fondle 'Em Records, Chris Palko, better known as Cage, has been intimately connected to the underground hip-hop scene as early as 1991, having worked with legends such as El-P, KMD, Necro, Godfather Don, K-Solo, and more. Since that time, Cage has become known as much as a pioneer of horrorcore rap, as for his dark and paranoid rhymes on underground favorites like "Radiohead", "Agent Orange", and "That Smut", from his work with the hip-hop group Smut Peddlers. His 2002 debut Movies For The Blind is considered an essential underground album to this day, scoring critical acclaim and a Billboard Hot 100 spot. In recent years Cage has gone on to appear on Kid Cudi's Top 5 Billboard release Man on The Moon 2, and has worked with Shia LaBeouf, DJ Shadow, Jello Biafra, and numerous others. Now in 2013, Cage returns to the scene with Kill The Architect which will hit stores on October 22nd. The album marks the return of longtime NYC indy label Eastern Conference Records, the imprint with which Cage worked to release a number of albums including Movies For The Blind. The project also finds long time collaborator and Eastern Conference head DJ Mighty Mi back behind the boards for the majority of the project. Review: Cage comes back...sort of. One of the best albums of the year. - I wasn't even going to get this after listening to the last 2 releases from Cage. They were complete garbage. But this was an unexpected surprise unlike any other Cage release. It is a very dark record, even by Cage's standards. The beats are very atmospheric and gloomy. If you are expecting another Smut Peddlers, Leak Bros, Movies for the Blind, then you might be disappointed. Because the aggression in his delivery from those earlier works is absent. His delivery teeters on the depressing side. What is not absent is Cage's clever way of mocking humanity and his indulgence in misanthropy. The lyrics cut you in a weird way that is facilitated by pulsating anti-climactic beats. There are a couple of epic classic all out tracks: F this Game, You were the S in High School, My Dog is Dead. I think he wins a bunch of fans back with this one. But only the ones that get it. Review: Best album of the year hands down! - Rapper Cage hasn't been really heard from since 2009's Depart from me besides a few singles here and there and guest apperecences on other artists songs. Now in 2013 he returns with his fourth studio album Kill the Arcitect the best underground rap album and quite possibly the best rap album period of the year. Songs in the album to look out for are The Hunt, Cursed, In your fur. If you already like cage then buy the album. But if your just getting into Cage buy some of his earlier stuff like Movies for the blind. Bottom line buy this album if you like true hip hop and not this commercial stuff they have now. Peace!

Do not sleep on this.
Kill the Architect is the latest project from Cage and some of my favorite stuff he's ever done. Is this Movies for the Blind or Hell's Winter? No. Is this a bad thing? No. Cage has always been sick and his willingness to progress as an artist needs acceptance from no one. This is a top 5 album of the year.

More rap less singy.
I've heard a lot of people hate on this album because it's not like the last album. Apparently those people like things to stay the same and that's one thing Cage doesn't do. It's a great album with simple not over the top production. Sounds like he may have switched producers for this one since it doesn't have that "depart from me" feel. It's a little more rappy and less singy than depart from me aswell but he still uses his newer rap flow style on it. If you've never heard Cage he sounds like if Kurt Cobain could rap. I definitely recommend Kill The Architect.

This guy is a Psychotic, Genius...
I love the old Cage from back in the late 90's and all that. He had a beef with Eminem right before his 1st album because it was alleged Em stole Cage's style. He disappeared and came back wtihEMO rock that didnt pop and I wasnt a fan. But he linked back up with DJ Mighty Mi from his Eastern Conference days and this album is GREAT. This guys content is crazy and you catch something new he says everytime your listen...

Sad state of affairs for Cage. This emo crap needs to be stopped.
Oh. What the hell? This album was a severe disappointment. Nowhere near his first album. First off, the production was extremely weak. Awful. Experimental crap. And, Cage's voice was very low- overpowered by the noise he choose as beats. Seems at times he was whispering like a scared little girl. It seem like Cage wasn't sure if he wanted to be like Slug or his old self. This emo crap was a slap to the face of his old fans. This CD will disappoint you if you are expecting something like his first two albums. If you are white and "going thru problems" in life, this may suit you.

I'm bored
Cage is the s*** and can kill it, but this album sounded like watered down "Sadistik" beats and the lyrics did not make up for it. I was really pumped for this album. I am not sure if he is simply relying on shock value but there are many, many self-proclaimed crazy/depressed singers and rappers and that does not cut it anymore. Awesome artists: EL-P and Killer Mike, Schoolboy Q, Madchild, Danny Brown, K. Flay, even Eminem's Marshal Mathers LP2. Cage can be kick-ass, it just did not happen on this album. "In your fur" and "Watch me" were pretty good, thats about it.

Eastern Conference Records & Cage FTW!
Fantastic production that brought my system to life in a way seldom done by Rap Music...yet ALWAYS done by Mighty Mi. If you are a fan of Cage Buy this..its much less of a downer than Depart and in many cases he is in that lane he owned in 2002. well done by two of my favorite Artists

I have listened to this a lot since I bought it, Cage continues the kind of depressive vibe which was also on 'Depart from me' this album though I happen to enjoy a lot more than the previous... every track is consistent and seems to weave onto one another flawlessly, Cage has some great wordplay and a delivery which sounds like he's on the edge and ready to jump... The ongoing vibe is slow and melancholic there isn't no fast paced raps, just pure emotional genius with beats that feel unconventional yet work wonders for Cages flow. Do give this one a try Cage is one of the best Hip Hop artists out there and one of the most distinct.

Better than his previous effort, but not as good as movies for the blind. We all evolve I guess but I do crave the old cage.
