Worked for my dash cam in my 2017 330i BMW. The power stays on for a bit after shutting the car off and turns on as soon as I unlock but it’s been a few months and doesn’t drain my battery or anything.

For BMW, ignore their proprietary 10pin connector & head for the red 3 pin buried back against the underside of the windshield after you remove the plastic cover. Needle nose pliers made it easy to pull out. I found it helpful to disconnect the black 10pin so I had room to work, simply plug it back in after you've confirmed functionality through the 3 pin. It took a little bit of trying to Nestle all of the components back under the plastic cover, but it works. I snipped two of the plastic bars on the bottom of the driver's side cover to allow the plug to snake through to power the dash cam (see pic). I've probably purchased 10 Dongar connectors over the years for various cars and various friends cars that I gifted dash cams. They make things SO easy compared to back in the day when I would tap into the wiring of the rear view mirror. I'm going to guess that this works for all of the BMWs with powered mirrors in this "generation" of design, which seems to be 2014-2018, but do your own homework. Mine is a 2017 F26 X4 M40i. I will continue to be a customer of this company, great product, great price, makes things easy and convenient. 5 stars all day.

I want to say first off I have the dongar adapter in my Lexus GX and it works beautifully. But unfortunately for my 2021 BMW 330i the adapter only connects to a plug that supplies CONTINUOUS power to my dash cam. The power is NOT switched. Which means I either have to unplug the dash cam everytime I get out of the car OR leave it running and drain my battery. For this reason, in my opinion, I would say it is NOT compatible with the G20 3 series BMW. Yes it will provide power but not in the way that is traditionally expected with a hardwiring system. I am also frustrated because it is one day past the return window so I just have to eat the cost.

Does not turn off in Bmw X3, it is continuous power mode. The quality of the device and instructions felt premium. Too bad can't risk battery by keeping it in continuous mode.

Works like a charm for my Garmin mini dashcam installed in a BMW i3. Plug and play you get 2 versions which pretty much covers most cars but check the Dongar website to confirm vehicle compatibility, made tapping power from the rain windscreen sensor so simple was done in like 10 minutes. Saves so much time than running a long USB cable to a power source under the dashboard.

Amazing little adapter to install and power a dash camera in my 2015 435i. This was way easier than running to the fuser box like i used to. Just remove the plastic cover up by the mirror, unplug the 3 pin purple plug, and plug this inline. Super easy!

The product itself is great. Works flawlessly but newer BMWs keep power on in the rain sensor for over 10 minutes after turning off the car. This creates parasitic drain which messes up the battery management system and you get an error when you start the car that says "Start engine. Malfunction while shutting down the vehicle electronics when vehicle is stationary. If the problem recurs, have it checked by your service center." This error also disables your remote start feature on your car

I bought one for my Kia Sorento a few years back directly from the company. Recently, they made one that would work in my carbon fiber exotic - I purchased this from Amazon. It too worked perfectly. Carbon fiber exotic? Yes, my BMW i3. It's awesome - the best city car ever. I love it!

Worked just fine for my BMW F31. I piggy backed the rear view mirror sensor to supply power for my new dashboard camera. The purple connector fits for that. 2.4 Volt rating was a concern (the camera is rated 2.5V), but it works. The power stays on for a few minutes after the ignition turned off. So, it will not drain the battery.
