These water filters are great for ice machines I have several ice machines rolling 24 hours a day and this cuts down on scale buildup and also makes great ice cubes the main thing is it's food grade quality along with it taking out any impurities down .5 µm this cuts down on scale inside the machine and also keeps maintenance cost down this is a no-brainer if you have a commercial ice machine.

Does it really have to be used in a commercial application?
I read most of the reviews on this filter before purchasing it since it's listed a commercial filter, and I needed a residential filter for our 3M 3US-MAX-S01 single filter system. I decided to give this a shot even though a couple reviews said they had flow issues after installing. It's been installed for a week now and I have had no flow issues whatsoever. The water is clear and the "taste" is like bottled water. This filter is used in our side sink filtered faucet. Our main sink faucet is not filtered. So basically we just use the filtered water for drinking and cooking. I was getting the original filter on a subscription and it got cancelled and it was getting replaced every 6 months. This filter is recommended getting replaced at the same interval. However, the residential version is rated at 2000 gallons. The commercial is rated at 9000 gallons. In a commercial application for a restaurant 9000 gallons is probably spot on in the course of 6 months. In the house, not gonna happen. 9000 gallons will not pass through this filter anytime soon! Family of 3 and a dog. Best guess is 3 gallons of water a day x 365 days = 1,095 gallons in a year. The math says I'm good for 8 years. HA! We will see. *** One year later, no problem whatsoever. Water is still crystal clear, tastes great and no flow problems to date.

I ordered this as a replacement for a Filtrete system, but after receiving, confirmed with 3M that it is NOT compatible with Filtrete home filtration systems, even though it utilizes the same attachment method. It is designed for use with 3M commercial filtration systems.

The commercial filter has a slightly different connector than the home filter so depending on what base you have it might leak or not fit at all. Some reviews didn’t have a problem using it with the home system but mine didn’t work.
