Personal experience about product with all details!!!
I previously bought a Hive thermostat, but unfortunately it wasn’t very compatible with my boiler. The system came in three separate boxes: one connected via cable to the Wi-Fi receiver, one installed next to the boiler, and another unit connected to that. All three units had to work together, but the connection kept dropping and it became very frustrating. Later, I researched which thermostat would be most suitable for my boiler and Tado was recommended as the top option. I decided to trust that recommendation and purchased it — and I’m really glad I did. The installation process is incredibly easy. This is actually the first time I’ve ever written a product review, but I felt it was worth it. Right from the initial setup, after downloading the app, it guides you step by step: it asks which cables were connected to your old boiler system and then clearly explains exactly where each cable should be connected on the new Tado transmitter. This level of guidance makes installation very straightforward, even if you’re not technical. The app itself is very user-friendly. You can set detailed schedules hour by hour, and everything can be controlled from your phone. There is also an AI-based feature available through the app. This AI package is paid, which was a slight disappointment, but it’s not essential. If you choose to use it, it offers location-based control — the heating turns on automatically as you approach home, so you don’t need to do anything manually. Overall, the system works extremely stably. The interface is simple and clean. On the thermostat itself, you only see the room temperature and the target temperature — nothing confusing, no unnecessary buttons. All advanced control is handled through the app. The Wi-Fi receiver is integrated into the control unit installed next to the boiler, which is very convenient. All necessary cables and mounting accessories are included in the box. In short: very simple, very easy to use, and very practical. I’m extremely satisfied with this product. Thank you.

Replaced my Hive, better and more reliable.
Got this to replace a Hive system that I had for years but had started to lose connection all the time, go so fed up with the Hive that I wanted to get something different. Tado is the largest supplier of smart home heating solutions in Europe, that gave me confidence in them and after a lot of research about the app, the units, available addons I decided to go with Tado. Very pleased, was easy to install and did all the work myself. Good quality control unit. The thermostat/temp sensor feels a little cheaper compared to the Hive but it's also much less assuming in the room and I think actually looks better overall. The Hive has more control from the thermostat itself but honestly the Tado has what you need on the unit and everything else is so easy on the app. And as desired, no connection issues. Would recommend Tado X for anyone on the fence.

Great hardware but anti-customer behaviour and cloud lock-in
I bought this thermostat because it supports Matter and I saw HomeAssistant integration working with it. I wired it myself and their documentation was amazing which lets you to do it yourself. So far it was alright, but recently Tado decided to start forcing everyone to have their subscription to have "local" control (via their cloud of course; search in HA thread on github). They claimed that "customers should go cloud if possible" and "otherwise if it is not possible then 100 requests/day for their API should enough to cover what is not supported for free customers and 20k requests/day for customers with subscription", which as you can imagine simply not enough to control devices. I'd happy to go "full local" (as I have Matter/Thread hub for HA already and would want to control device locally), but Tado doesn't provide such option - their Matter implementation is limited to Matter 1.1/1.3 version only and it doesn't provide you control over hot water or schedules stored on the device, which makes it somewhat useless. I asked their support if they're planning to upgrade their firmware (which you can't find any documentation, latest version, an option to check updates or check changelogs whatsoever) and after my multiple attempts asking the same questions differently to get through (presumably) AI-based support they finally replied that they have no plans or information about doing it. On top of that, a couple of months ago they run a "test" marketing campaign where they showed some of the customers that "in order to use the app Tado will require you to pay a fee of £1/month", which is extremely ridiculous given that you're paying a lot for the devices already and you would expect that some sort of control would be available via the app for free, especially the one that you simply cannot control via thermostat itself (hot water or schedules). Given the price of monthly subscription of £4/month (considering what features you get it is burglary), their position over local-control via HomeAssistant and not willing to provide real full local control over devices (I'm very confident vast majority if not all customers would prefer if they could control _everything_ locally first and then have an option to have a remote control even for a small fee), but the company deliberately goes forces everyone to go "cloud first", which is a shame. I'm grad that I didn't buy any of their TRVs yet and probably will consider other, more reliable brands that won't force me into their cloud but rather provide local control over Matter or Zigbee). So my suggestion to everyone - stay away if possible for now until the company does something that would make you confident that even if they go busted you will have control over your devices (ones that you paid for already).
