Great scanner
I have been buying this line of Fujitsu scanners since the fi-4120c model. We no longer use the fi-4120c, but we are using the fi-5120c, and the fi-6130z still. These are all great scanners. We just recently bought a fi-7160, which is the updated model and let me tell you it is a major upgrade to the line. The scan speed is super fast, easily 1 page per second at 300 dpi with both sides being scanned. Scanning is very easy. You can scan using basic scanning software or you can use their papersteam IP software which allows for advanced functions (blank page skipping, automatic cropping, automatic rotation, and scan enhancement). The software is a little difficult to figure out but it works very well. For our use it was a worthy upgrade to the Kofax VRS software they used to include in the older models. I had one complaint about this scanner... The person using it said they used to be able to read the news when their prior scanner (fi-5120c) was scanning. With this one they have no time as it scans so fast. As a boss this was a good complaint to hear.

You will be dreaming in colors!!
HELLO DOLLY!!! So I used to have a DocuMate 152i as my scanner and decided I needed to upgrade since my old scanner was kicking the bucket. I did some research and finally settled on purchasing the Fujitsu Scanner. I'm so IN LOVE with my scanner. I don't even have to leave my desk EVER!! This thing does everything I need it to do and so MUCH MORE than my old scanner did and so MUCH FASTER. The quality is amazing. It's like going from a black and white TV to a HD LED TV!! I'm so thrilled that I spent the extra money on this little baby and plan on giving it a work out. I scan thousands of documents weekly and my other one was jamming up all the time. Now I can get down and jam, but not be jammed up!!

This is a great product
This scanner is fabulous. Works like a charm. Gobbles up the pages at about 1 per second and scans both sides and no matter how many pages you load, a few seconds after it scans the last page, a thumbnail view shows up on your screen of all pages. You can have it then do character recognition or not. I have scanned a couple of thousand pages by now and I had 4 misfeeds. Three were because I overlooked stapled pages. The sound sensor detects the crumbling of paper during a misfeed and quickly turns off the feed motor so your page is not shredded. Very small footprint, very intelligent design. The scanner manual is probably in the top 2% of well written manuals that I have ever seen. Clear, logical, photos, arrows detail, hyperlinked. My only gripe is that there is no documentation for the software and although it is easy to load and works flawlessly, it took quite some time to figure out exactly how to use it. You have to first create "Driver Profiles" that contain the options that you want. Then you create scanner profiles and select other options that you want and select a driver profile to go along with it. The combinations are endless. Color only. B&W only. Auto color recognize. Various resolutions. OCR or not? Pdf or jpeg? Their PaperStream software is brand new and there is already a newer version on their website to download. There are options in the software for things I have never heard of, and evidently would only be useful in an enterprise environment. I contacted Fujitsu twice and got English speaking people answering the phone who were knowledgeable and polite. I must be dreaming. I highly recommend this product. Very satisfied, but ouch it is costly. 1/21/2014 Update: Just finished scanning 5000 pages since I bought it. I believe there were only 2 misfeeds that were my fault (forgetting to remove a staple). It has now told me that it is now scheduled for its 5000 page cleaning so I called Fujitsu to ask a question about that, a very nice ENGLISH speaking person answered and told me that I really do not need to pay for the cleaner and pads specified in the manual, just use isopropyl alcohol greater than 90%. I did, worked fine, saved money. ANOTHER positive interaction w Fujitsu. Then I went into the software to reset the counter for cleaning to "0" so that it will let me know in another 5000 pages. There are other page counters that will let you know when it may be time for replacement of different feed rollers, and then there is a global page counter that cannot be reset. I am very impressed. What is interesting is that I originally performed my research and settled on the HP Scanjet Flo 7000 which is also a new model and has very similar features. I ordered it directly from HP and the shipping date kept getting pushed back, and back. I kept calling and emailing Hp to ask for a realistic shipping date. They kept giving me different excuses such as, "I tried contacting the warehouse and I can't get through", then "I sent an email to the warehouse to ask and they have not responded", then it was "there was a large rain storm that knocked out the electricity and the servers are down and it won't be until tomorrow when they come up." Delays, lies at Hp caused me to cancel the order and go with the Fujitsu Fi-7160. I could not be happier with how things worked out. Interestingly, in the last month I noticed Fujitsu scanners at hospitals and other large corporations that I have been in, not HP. 5/18/2017 Update Still amazed how wonderful the scanner is. Flawless. Never jams, unless I forgot to remove a staple. I decided to upgrade to the newest version of Paperstream software since I was still using version 1.0 from 3 years ago. Easily went to the Fujitsu website, easy download, easy install. Unfortunately, all the scan profiles I had created with Version 1.0 were not carried over, so I had to recreate them... I half expected that to happen. Glad to see that the usability of the software is greatly improved from the 1st version. The right click Adhoc feature lets you change any part of a profile for just one scan, very cool. So a couple days after I created my 8 scan profiles, I opened up the program and they were all GONE! Not happy. I remembered my great experience the last time I called customer support, so I decided to try that again, although I was truly expecting that they went the way of everyone else and now contract their customer service out to a company in Siberia. Amazing, went through one phone menu, was on hold for 20 seconds, and my call was answered by a real, live, native English speaking ADULT. And he was fully competent and was able to solve my issue immediately. Another great experience. Thank you Fujitsu. 3/5/2018 Update This baby is still cranking. FLAWLESS. I hope Fujitsu will consider making cars. :-)

7160 + ExactScan -- great combination for the Mac
Scanner works very well on a Mac via USB3 -- if you purchase the right software. Initially used DocKeep, the scanning software for Mac OSX recommended in some Amazon reviews about two years ago. This worked very well until the software company discontinued the product, and their last version turned out to be incompatible with Sierra (OSX 10.12). I next purchased VueScan 9.5: this was functional but scanned very slowly (rendering the Fujitsu no better than the scanner function on a standard Brother printer with document feeder), had many complicated and non-intuitive settings to deal with, including many "auto" settings which worked very poorly on the Fujitsu. VueScan NOT RECOMMENDED for this scanner used on a Mac. Just discovered ExactScan Pro, again based on a more recent Amazon review for this scanner. ExactScan Pro is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Restores speed to the Fujitsu and does everything DocKeep did and more. Its settings can be mastered fairly quickly using the brief online tutorial and the available online help section which gives a brief explanation for all the settings. I found (after a number of trials with different settings) for home office document scanning that the optimum default settings seem to be: color, 300dpi (since "auto" results in poor legibility for lightly shaded or colored text).

I now have one Fi7160, one SV600 and four of the discontinued S1500 (all Fujitsu) scanners (I used to have five of the S1500s but I sold one when I got the Fi7160). These are all workhorse scanners. I've never had a problem with any of them. I've worn out and replaced the paper separator tabs (these are a consumable) on 2 of the S1500 models, and they continue to work like new. I have probably scanned over a million pages on all of these scanners combined. I have carried an S1500 scanner with me on airplanes (in the factory bag you can get). I taken it to meetings with my laptop, and it works great. The S1500 is a 20 ppm duplex scanner and the Fi7160 is 60 ppm duplex (120 images per minute because it can scan both sides of a page.) I have scanned 1000s of pictures. I scan business cards, ID cards, mixed documents, receipts, etc. It comes with a document sleeve for fragile documents. The Fi7160 will fit in the same carry bag as the S1500 and I'm sure it would be just as durable. the Scansnap software is all you need. You can set up different profiles (as many as you want) and customize every scan setting, including auto OCR if you want. It interfaces with various cloud services (Evernote, Dropbox, One Drive, etc.) Scans to email. All of the models I've purchased include Adobe Acrobat full version which provides additional options to compress and optimize the PDFs. The Fi7160 saves a lot of time over the S1500 and will pay for itself in the time you save within a month if you do any volume of scanning. By adding additional pages during the scan as the feeder gets low on pages, you can continuous scan a few hundred pages. The Fi7160 is the newest scanner in my "fleet" and I've had it for about 2 years. I've had absolutely no problems and it has scanned a few hundred thousand pages by now. I highly recommend this scanner.

this does the job perfectly. quite, fast and efficient. very robust for many applications. image quality is excellent and works within a variety of environments. effortlessly separates pages while sheet feed scanning and can handle a thick stack. well made and solid. expensive but well worth it (you get what you pay for).

This is a professional scanner that is engineered to scan documents quickly and efficiently. Fantastic unit, reliable and easy to use. I have used this line of scanners for the past ten years, and have had absolutely no issues with them. I had to change to newer models due to compatibility with updated software for the business, and never due to failing or malfunctioning unit. In fact, after five years of use and close to 20 thousand scanned sheets, the unit still sold for $300.

using this scanner in a very very busy clinic environment, and we use this scanner almost 100 times a day. And the first fi-7160 we brought is still working perfectly after 3 years. Thus we brought another fi-7160 from Amazon since we need two scanner now. Work perfectly with third party scanner software, and compatible with MacOS or Windows. Love this little thing. Just proving once again how much a perfect working product can help tremendously increasing productivity.
