The much-anticipated new edition of 'Learning the Art of Electronics' is here! It defines a hands-on course, inviting the reader to try out the many circuits that it describes. Several new labs (on amplifiers and automatic gain control) have been added to the analog part of the book, which also sees an expanded treatment of meters. Many labs now have online supplements. The digital sections have been rebuilt. An FPGA replaces the less-capable programmable logic devices, and a powerful ARM microcontroller replaces the 8051 previously used. The new microcontroller allows for more complex programming (in C) and more sophisticated applications, including a lunar lander, a voice recorder, and a lullaby jukebox. A new section explores using an Integrated Development Environment to compile, download, and debug programs. Substantial new lab exercises, and their associated teaching material, have been added, including a project reflecting this edition's greater emphasis on programmable logic. Online resources including online chapters, teaching materials and video demonstrations can be found at: https://LearningTheArtOfElectronics.com. Review: A good part of my collection. - Well bound and a stout cover, this book has survived many perusals of mine. As a 40+ year veteran EE, I find it a good reference for not only myself, but for teaching others of my craft. I find it to be well laid out, and to include a wealth of pertinent information on each topic. It includes plenty of tables, and side information in support of the explanations given. I would suggest this book for anyone's library, expert or novice. Review: A fantastic resource...focused on your actual progress. - I love what they said somewhere in the in the opener (from memory) ~"We want to cover less, uncover more". I just got it a few days ago. I've only had time to thoroughly read from first page thru the first lab (haven't physically done the labs yet) and various sections of interest. It moves at just the right speed and, like AoE, has that "energy"... The quality of this content and readability are simply fantastic. I'm so excited to get back into circuits after a very long time off. I wish I had 6 months off of work with no distractions to just dig in, learn, and build.

Great textbook with labs as a focus
Best lab book ever. Not just unanswered questions. Labs but in another text book around them.

The book is well written.
The book was kind of a mixture of engineering (electrical) and a technician's lingo. It is very informative.

Great content but should be available in digital format
The content is great but it's a pity that a book about electronics is only available in paperback format which is only relevant to museums nowadays. Who reads such a massive printed technical book today without being able to search a word or phrase in the whole text or to zoom in the pages for comfortable reading? I resorted to purchasing an overhead scanner to be able to read the content at the comfort of my screen.

Possibly The Best Introduction to Hands-on Electronics
This is a way better introduction to working with real electronics than any cookbook or starter kit. Although the full list of components needed to follow along wasn't the easiest to acquire and more expensive than a run-of-the-mill assortment, the selection is diverse and actually covers many functions. Paired with the main text, Art of Electronics, this will leave you with a solid baseline understanding of what the components are and how they work. Very helpful when facing the overwhelmingly massive economy of parts. Light on math and theory; instead focused on component selection. The whole collection compliments any traditional textbook on electronics very well.

Excellent Course on Electronics
I have not gotten into the second edition, but I have done the first edition. It was excellent, and the updates to the second edition was exactly what I was hoping would be upgraded in the second edition. As I was going through the first edition I was thinking the digital section was a bit out dated but the second edition appears to have have tackled this problem. I am happy to see the authors are taking active steps in keeping the book in modern times. Truly a great time to be alive. Can't wait to see what this book holds.

One of the Better Electronics Lab Texts
Having tried some of the experiments referred to in this book - an extension to the main Art of Electronics textbook in this trilogy - I strongly recommend it as it provides a coherent practical approach that attends to detail without losing the reader.
