This has to be the best pool cleaner and the best customer service you're likely to find
I waited to write a review because I wanted to relate how well this pool robot performs over time. Opening our pool this Spring was a disaster. Unlike other years when the pool was crystal clear to the bottom when we removed the winter cover, this year we couldn't see more than a few inches below the surface. After running hundreds of dollars of chemicals through the filtration system constantly for two weeks (my electricity bills prove it) little had changed. Being able to see the bottom of the pool was a distant memory. In desperation, we bought the Poolmate Hydro 4 Pool Robot Cleaner - primarily because it does not use the pool's filtration system to clean the pool. Dirt and debris are collected in the Robot's filter bin. We chose the hybrid version of the Poolmate 4 with both corded and cordless components because we were in such a bad situation. We began with the corded version of the robot along with the ultra fine filter (additional cost but well worth it for our extremely dirty pool). The corded version meant we didn't have to keep charging the battery buoy (which lasts for about two hours before needing a recharge). Within a few hours we could see the bottom of the pool. A day later and the water was clear. Now we run the cordless robot with the standard filter to collect leaves and other large debris and it does an amazing job. If pollen or sand accumulate, we clean with the ultra fine filter and it's gone. Totally gone. But the best feature of this setup is the Customer Service. They are responsive to a fault. Any issues or questions we have had have been quickly resolved. The folks we have dealt with have all been thoughtful and helpful and generous with their time and expertise. I am so glad we bought this brand. The robot climbs the walls and cleans the waterline as advertised. The pool floor is spotless when it's done. And I can't say enough good things about the company behind it! If I had to buy another, I would buy the Poolmate in a minute!

Reliable, simple, and works super well!
Fantastic robot vacuum! It is beating a lot of the major brands out there! Honestly, I did not buy it believing it is the best out there. I am just getting tired of those major brands charging a arm and leg for some basic functions. I decided to get this a try. I am so surprised by it! Here are highlights, 1. It works well! Picking up leaves, getting the water flow up in the pool, and removing some debris from the waterline are everything that I am asking for, and it does that very well! 2. Scheduling function works well! I like to get it to work super early in the morning, and that works! 4AM every morning, floor cleaning for 2 hour, wall and waterline for 2 hours, everyday. It is basic, simple and reliable. 3. leaf collection tank is huge. It is bigger than the major brand I have (Poloris). 4. App privacy -- no login needed, no wifi needed, just bluetooth and the machine saves all the setting you have, including scheduling. What's better is that you can still update this thing! I love that the company does not force you to create an account and share all personal information with them, and they still provide all updates, functions, and features! Control unit is small and pretty. I am not sure how long it will last underneath the direct sun, so I am going to find a shed box for it. I will report here for any issues down the road. This thing is such a fantastic product from a small company. I am now loving this much more than the three poloris monsters that I have without any scheduling feature!

Climbs walls in floor only mode
This order arrived to my house on Monday, June 23. I unpacked it and installed it into the waterproof electrical box I used for my previous cleaner in pretty short order. Downloaded the app, and configured the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with no issues as other people have previously mentioned; I guess they are just idiots. It took me 10 minutes, tops. This included a firmware upgrade. Everything worked as it’s supposed to. My pool is 20 x 40 with an 8 foot deep end. Two jets, two ladders, two sets of steps in the shallow corners. my biggest issue with the pool is tree debris from neighboring trees. Bark, twigs, leaves. After it sits in the pool, it decomposes and breaks down and turns into fine particulate matter. I played around with the manual setting on the floor for a while. Very cool to be able to go exactly where you want to go and get large piles of debris, dirt, leaves, pool, funk. I then created a custom setting. My parameters were floor only, S-shaped pattern, four hours. This video shows that it loves to hit the walls. In spite of the fact I selected floor only. The walls on my pool stay fairly clean. If this thing would stick to the program, it would probably do a pretty good job. However, if this first run is any indicator, I’m going to be returning this unit to Amazon in very short order. In the five minutes, it took for me to draft this review, it has climbed the walls and additional five times. In fact, I dare say it has spent more time on the walls than on the floor, even though it is supposedly on floor only mode. I will give it a few more days and see if it possibly needs to map my pool in order to perform better. If not, thank goodness it’s on prime, and I will just send it back and try another unit. If the situation improves, I will update my review and my stars. June 24 update: So, I will say it did a superb job of cleaning. I had a very heavy amount of debris since my old cleaner has been dead a month. It does not follow an S-pattern even when using one of the canned floor only formats. It just randomly scoots along, covering a solid 95% of my total floor space. I got the remaining 5% with the manual setting. It did not scrub the walls with this format either. As it approached the vertical surface, it would stop, pivot, and proceed. I think this is where the lack of S-pattern comes in. It does not do a precise 180 degree turn every time, causing it to go off in angles all over the place. My initial review was a 3, I will bump it up to 4, with considerations to a 5. I was skeptical with its initial performance out of the box. I have a large pool and would like the ability to manually program it to do what I want, as advertised. As long as it is durable and maintains this level of cleaning performance, I might forego the advertised features and give it 5 stars. July 17 update. Unit has lost connection and says it is not in the water. Neither is the case. I still have a 6 day window to send it back to Amazon for a full refund, so off it goes. Shame because it has potential. Cleaned well but programming bugs could not be overcome.

Cleaning Game - Changer!
just unboxed the Chasing Poolmate Hydro 4 Pool Robot Cleaner, and I'm already stoked to share my thoughts. Right out of the box, it looks sleek and well - built. First, let's talk about its cleaning capabilities. It's a champ at tackling both inground and above - ground pools. Whether it's the floor, walls, or waterline, this little robot gets to work and leaves everything sparkling clean. The 50ft cord gives it a good range, so even in larger pools, it can reach all the spots that need cleaning. And that 4.1L top - load filter basket? It's a beast at holding all the debris, so you don't have to empty it constantly. The smart app control with WiFi and Bluetooth is a huge plus. I can start, stop, or schedule cleanings right from my phone, which is super convenient. No more having to be physically near the pool to get the robot going. Now, for the minor thing that could be better. The initial setup for the app connection took a bit of fiddling. Maybe the instructions could be a bit more detailed to make that process smoother for first - time users. All in all, this pool robot cleaner is a game - changer for pool maintenance. It saves so much time and effort, and the cleaning results are top - notch. Even with the small app setup hiccup, I'd highly recommend it to anyone with a pool who wants to make their life easier.

Handles the debris my tree drops.
I've only been using this a couple of weeks and so far it is working well. I have a massive live oak hanging over my pool that drops trash continually. I have had issues with some cleaners that would clog and get stuck on twigs and clumps of leaves and so far, this cleaner seems to handle what the tree throws at it. I like that the basket opens from both ends which means that emptying and cleaning it are easy. I also like the manual control via on-screen joystick that lets me drive it around and pick up anything that was missed. I am using it primarily in floor only mode. I have a natural rock coping that sticks out over the edge of the pool about 2 inches, and when it climbs the walls, it seems to get stuck for about 30 seconds at a time (I think it is trying to climb until it detects it is out of the water, but it hits the lip and never gets out of the water - eventually, it seems to give up and go back down). The floor is my main concern so this is not an issue for me. Also, it does not climb the steps at all, but I really didn't expect that it would. I have a pebble-tec surface which is quite rough, so it will be interesting to see how long the treads and rubber brushes last, but that would be true of any cleaner.

Excellent for when you are away from home
I have another robot pool vac that I love but it needs to be charged and removed from the pool and rinse and repeat. I love it and I like the no cords. However when you are away from home for an extended period of time that is not functional because you have to ask someone to drop it in and then come back to remove it and charge it. Once you have had the robot type pool cleaner you just can’t go back to the suction type. That is why I purchased this corded pool cleaner. I needed something that cleaned well without me being home. I have used the app to have this go on every day for 3 hours to clean my pool. I have been gone for over 3 weeks and this has been working very well to keep my pool clean with minimal effort. Edit**** I have had to be away from home for almost 3 months and with this preprogrammed to run everyday for 3 hours and having a neighbor add chlorine tabs my pool has stayed clean. ( with pump running of course and my pool is screened in)

Has potential but misses the mark
I have to be honest. The Hydro 4 needs some work. As others have stated it has some great features and build quality at an attractive price point but it has a few bugs that need to be worked out which take away from the attractive price. I watched many YouTube reviews before purchasing but they left a few things out. It has potential but misses the mark. It cleans the bottom of the pool very well but not the walls and water line. I have given it a few attempts and believe I will have to return it. It doesn't clean the walls or water line well even if you choose the wall/waterline cleaning mode. It still mainly just cleans the floor. The app needs improvement as it constantly loses connectivity. You must use the app to control the device so you are constantly reconnecting. I had the cord get tangled up once but I guess that will happen with any corded cleaner. I also bought the additional ultra fine filter. This filter really causes the machine to run poorly. I'm guessing because it doesn't allow for the correct amount of water flow? It picks up fine debris great but the cleaner will repeatedly pop wheelies, speed across the floor, fall off the wall, and after it gets enough debris in the filter it won't even climb the wall for me to retrieve it. It really struggles with the ultra fine filter and that is with the pool having already been cleaned with the original filter. If it worked a bit better it would be very good. I'm sad to say I will likely send both back.
