I was able to read when our power went out for about an hour the other night. However the led's have a sort of blue-ness to them and I'm pretty sure that is disruptive to sleep, so I was a little disappointed. Turns out, if you just put some orange or yellow paper over it the light becomes a much softer hue and is still plenty bright to read by! So far it's working just as expected. I'm giving it a three stars because they only allow you to purchase one and I needed three. I'm not sure why they limit each customer to only one but maybe that's a good thing. I read the one-star reviews that said the lamp stopped working so perhaps it's best that they limit. I'm not sure yet. So far, my lamp is working pretty good. I did have to run an extension to clip it on the top of her loft. It easily bends to adjust it to the position she needs. It's easy for her since all she has to do is touch/tap the power button. She usually reads 30-45 min every night and was impressed at how long it took before I had to recharge it. I would say it took at least a month-month & half.
