Vermont's Long Trail: Map

Good map very handy

I really love this map and would recommend it to anyone doing anything from a day hike to a thru hike! The elevation profiles, shelter locations, mileage along the trail, labels, roads, side trails, just about everything is clearly marked. The layout of the map doesn't require opening the whole thing to get to your current section. One cool feature is the elevation profile at the top of the map that shows the change in elevation as one hikes from start to finish. No more counting the lines up the side of a mountain for the elevation gain, this picture really simplifies it and helps when setting daily goals and prevents you from accidentally hiking up a tall mountain just before it gets dark. However, I feel like this map is missing one thing. I would love to have yearly magnetic declination! This would really help if anyone got lost and had to triangulate where they are. A few degrees can make a huge difference when it comes to true north!

This is all you need to hike the Long Trail. I treated it rough throughout my hike and it survived. Plus it has a nice feel to it due to the waterproofing. It does not give much info about the towns beyond where the nearest post office is, but other hikers and locals are good sources for that stuff anyway. What I really liked about it is that it shows the local area and roads so you know exactly where you are in the state which gives a nice well rounded feel to your hike and also aids in hitch hiking. Although I swear the miles are longer on the Long Trail than on the Appalachian Trail...

Super handy when I did a week on the long trail though there were a few things hard to read on the map, however I prepared before the trip and it all worked out

Great map with lots of detail, new version has improved on old classic. Always in my pocket when hiking on LT!

This is crucial when hiking The Long Trail! Knowing where all the shelters are and what elevation you should expect, not to mention knowing where you can resupply.

I really like how this map is broken up into sections and the elevation profile at the top of the map is really helpful for understanding what kind of elevation changes you'll experience on the trail.
