For some reason the Chromatic Setting reads the correct notes on my guitar down my fretboard, but the guitar setting doesn't. Can someone tell me why?

The guitar setting is intended for the notes of the open strings only so each string is numbered 1-6. Chromatic setting reads any note on the fretboard.

Is the case (FT-2) made of hard plastic or the soft stuff that gets sticky over time?

I know why they asked -- I've got several Snarks that are so sticky they are too gross to touch. Plastic/rubber breaks down over time.

Will this indicate tuning for D strings (4th & 1st) on a 5-string banjo?
