Powerful machine, works great for a professional software developer
I'm a professional software developer, and I wanted to get an upgrade to replace my 3-year-old Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio. I don't have much need for use of a computer in a battery situation, but I do a fair amount of travel by car, and I needed something portable. This fits nicely into my laptop bag, and I also carry a 17" Acer portable monitor in there. This machine is fast, and cut my compile times approximately in half. I routinely work on quarter million line code bases, so saving 15 seconds on almost every build is a definite time saver. I'm not a gamer so I only need business graphics. The software I write makes heavy use of 2D graphics, and this excels for that. If you are a gamer or need high performance 3D graphics, I'd recommend the version of this computer with the GeForce graphics card in it.

A Lot Of Computer Power In A Small Package
I replaced my Dell 8900 Tower with this HP Elite Mini 800, and I am very satisfied. It is a much smaller footprint on my desk (wow, what a difference). It does not appear to have any overheating problems, and supports those add-ons that I find necessary. I am using a USB hub to add more USB and HDMI slots if needed. Right now, it is supporting my graphic and audio demands. I have been using it for about a month, and haven't had any difficulties.

Small but Mighty
I love that this is small enough for my desk and it is fast. Lots of ports.

When it worked it was great but it crashed 18 months in for no reason
Update as of 5.4.2026: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! PURCHASE IT DIRECTLY FROM HP AND NOT HERE! Had to further dive into this with HP and my local IT company. Essentially I have discovered that this is not a TRUE 1TB storage SSD and this seller modified/enhanced a lesser 256GB factory PC. HP said I am SOL and now I am having a local IT company source and install another hard drive that has the sufficient storage needed. I contacted the seller and they said I had a 1 year warranty so its on me to fix it. April Post: Purchased this in July of 24 and it worked solid up until last month when the Harddrive crashed/disconnected from the PC. The PC stays on a desk and its plugged into a surge protector and both companies that I took it to that tried to save the content and restore it didn't have a reason for why it would have occurred. Luckily it was still under warranty and HP sent someone out and they replaced it for free. However, the PC was apparently set up in Mandarin and now I cannot set it up due to the language barrier. I cannot find any help online to change the language and I lost all the memory (at least to the most recent back up).

fast and small with great HP web support.
fast, nice small form factor. Some issues with bluetooth device drivers, probably not the PC"s fault.

I'm very impressed!
I'm pretty shocked at the great pricepoint on this when compared to what you get. I finally concluded that the WFH thing was permanent for me, so I ditched my Surface Pro for this mini PC. Not only is this much, much faster than my Surface, but it has all the ports I need to enable me to ditch my docking station. The result is a decluttered setup that should serve both my work (data analysis) and personal uses (music production) for the next 5-10 years. Long term update: Not a single complaint or issue. When I share my screen while I'm doing data analysis, folks on the other end are confused by how fast I'm chugging through data!
