The block also moves well and is easy to turn making it simple to grab any knife I need. Though it’s expensive, it’s well worth it and I’m glad to buy American made! The craftsmanship is unbelievable. I got her the walnut, and it is beautiful. It's perfect for her new set of knives and fits perfectly on her counter. The knives hold fantastically and the rotation of the block is smooth and rotates well. I bought the tallest one at first, but it was too high for under the cabinets. It would be perfect to sit on an island. It had slid on the top for extra knives, which is a nice feature. I sent it back directly to the seller, who was excellent to deal with. She was very pleasant and very understanding of the issue of it being too tall. It is very heavy though, so be prepared when you remove it from the box.
