Hinds' Feet on High Places

This is my all-time favorite book. I’ve read it multiple times since the 1980s and I have given it to several people. It always touches people in all kinds of circumstances. And so I came back to update my review. I’m ordering two more copies of this book. I have ordered about 20 copies from Amazon since 2010. And I bought I can’t remember how many copies from Christian book stores in the 1980s and 1990s. When I know someone who is struggling to make sense of what is happening in their life I give them this book. It takes such a simple-minded, trusting girl on the most seemingly difficult path with unquestionably the least desirable companions. And it uses these things to shape her into the most unbelievably beautiful version of herself. I think it might inspire me even more the umpteenth time I read it than it did the first time. Next to the actual Bible, this is my all-time favorite book. I think it’s a must-read-and-must-reread for anyone who needs an answer from God. Don’t put it off. You will find comfort and peace and inspiration, along with some tears.

This book is a fast moving story full of humor and surprises. Very engaging and an enjoyable read. Why haven't I read this before now?! I love the layout of this 8 x 10 version too!

I have read this book before back in the 1980's it was good to reread it. This is a simple but powerful look at redrmption and the love of God through Jesus.

This is a book that enhances faith in the Father. It gives you the steps used to rise above your troubles and the joy felt when you overcome. How problems get you to where you need to be if you are not afraid to go thru sorrow and suffering who walks hand in hand. After you earn your hinds feet. The Father can use you to help others if you desire to do so. I drew encouragement in my journey with the King from Much Afraid's journey . This book was truly inspiring to read.

Love this book. I’ve gifted it too many times to count to those who are on a journey of greater self understanding. However, this is not paperback size - it’s magazine size. Not bad but I prefer paperback size. Still read this life changing book.

On the whole, Hinds' Feet is an encouraging reminder that God's ways are higher than our own, suffering produces hope, and endurance is the daily call of the believer. I'm cautious about this book because of the way God\Christ figures in this book and speaks. As with other books that do this (Jesus Calling, The Shack, etc.), I can't recommend this kind of writing - Bunyan does this well in Pilgrims Progress. Lastly, the interpretation and interweaving of the Song of Song/canticles was heart warming, but strange. I don't know that I can commend this repeated interpretation or application.

Love this book!...have read it many times over.

I have read this book a number of times and with each reading I identify with a different part of Much-Afraid's journey. She sets off on a journey to the High Places with The Shepherd, accompanied by two companions to help her, Sorrow and Suffering. Along the way she is assaulted and waylaid by her relatives who are determined to try and prevent her from reaching the High Places - Self Pity, Pride, Resentment, Bitterness, Craven Fear... But she also has The Shepherd to call upon to aid her. This journey of growth and transformation is inspiring, deeply spiritual, uplifting and nourishing. I am not sure about the drawings in this illustrated edition, I was hoping for something that "spoke" to me in the same way the words did. They will appeal to a younger demographic. To quote the blurb at the start of this edition: There are no obstacles which our Savior’s love cannot overcome. The High Places of victory and union with Christ can be reached by learning to accept, day by day, the actual conditions and tests permitted by God, by laying down of our own will and accepting His. The lessons of accepting and triumphing over evil, of becoming acquainted with grief, and pain, and of finding them transformed into something incomparably precious; these are the lessons of the allegory in this book. The Lord God maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon mine High Places. Psalm 18:33 and Habakkuk 3:19 I love reading this book and hope that more people will get the same enjoyment and spiritual fulfilment that I do on each reading. Highly recommended😊

I loved the way Hinds feet explored the Christians walk and the battle's with self & the world and people around after being saved by God and led by Jesus to face the trials & Tribulations that come with being a Christian. The explanations really helped me to understand what they were about, and why we needed them to grow up and become All that God intended us to be from the beginning. Thanks Hannah appreciate this book, and recommend it to everyone seeking to grow up in the Lord.
