ROKR Lost City! A very fun and engaging build kit. Make your own electronic DIY marble run!
The Lost City marble run set from ROKR / Robotime is an awesome USB-C powered tabletop or desktop set piece. It's perfect for those who love marble runs, as I do. From my assessment, all of the ABS parts are good quality and you can tell ROKR puts a lot of effort into its manufacturing process. When seated properly within the case, the marble channels deliver smooth and seamless travel. Operationally, it's not particularly quiet by any means but I personally enjoy the click-clack sounds of marbles rising and falling. Currently I only own the Lost City but plan to buy the other expansion kits for more exciting action. In my opinion, The Lost City's art design makes it suitable to place underneath The Future City kit, which gives the set the effect that marbles are traveling downward on journey to the lower seedier depths of a futuristic megalopolis. Regarding the internal lighting, it is pretty to look at and makes me feel like I'm looking at a pinball or Japanese Pachinko machine. However, I would suggest that ROKR add one more set of lights for the bottom of the case as there are areas in the design which appear as though they should be illuminated but aren't, such as the red and blue traffic signal and the spinner wheel toward the bottom of the track. Since the red and blue pieces are made from colored transparent ABS, it initially appears as though they are going to be part of the illuminated aspects of the kit. In reality they're just colored plastic parts with no functionality aside from aesthetics. The only real issue I had with the build process was with the instructions for the marble elevator. The instructions for that component are contained within a separate pamphlet and I feel they could have just added them to the main instruction manual instead. When you unfold the lift instructions, it takes up a lot of room in your workspace and can cause issues trying to follow the steps in a linear fashion due to the layout. TIPS FOR NEW BUILDERS! IMPORTANT: Regarding the marble elevator, I feel some of the malfunctions that others have had with the operation of this component are likely due to mis-alignments or pieces that are not securely connected. You MUST keep the set pins inserted until you have placed the main lift arms in place using the grooves as your guide. It specifies this in the instructions, so don't overlook this important tip. Make sure you don't remove them before you finish installing all the parts per the guide or your lift will not align properly. The setting pins hold the elevator gears in position to properly align the bars which lift the marbles to the top. ALSO IMPORTANT: Make sure your marble run is on a level surface when it is operational. If the box leans too far forward, marbles will pile up within the top of the feeder where they enter into the play area causing a jam. Both the front ABS case window panel and the elevator panel are removable for internal servicing in the event your marbles get stuck or somehow wind up off-track. ROKR provides a little magnet-tipped wand which makes marble retrieval a simple process. Ensure you properly trim your parts using the angled nail cutter included in the box. I was able to cleanly remove all the residual plastic tabs for smooth part edges using this tool. It's also recommended to have a good set of wire snips to cut through the tabs holding the parts for easier removal and to prevent breaking any important connection points. Otherwise, assembly is very straight-forward. If you've ever completed a plastic model kit before, or have built any Lego set, you shouldn't have much trouble following the main build guide. Get marbling!

Lots of fun to build, and excellent engineering
Bought this for myself for some Christmas build entertainment. This kit is the most well-engineered kit I've ever run into, down to the parts bags, most of which have perforated zip-opening. All tools needed are included, and building the main unit went very smoothly, with excellent instructions. Instructions for the ball lifter were a different matter - it took me two tries to get it assembled properly. The main difference is that they switched from a build booklet in the case of the main unit, to a large single sheet for the lifter, which made it much easier to miss steps, as the steps were poorly-organized compared to the steps for the main unit. For the manufacturer, I'd suggest either including the lifter instructions in the main booklet (organized the same way), or printing a separate, smaller booklet for the lifter, so that the sequence of steps can't easily be screwed-up. Also kind of missing are decent operating instructions. It may not be obvious to some that there is a touch switch on the front, and why are there two USB-C ports on the back? Anyway, it was a fun build, and the engineering that went into this kit is impressive.

A Small Time Machine
A Small Time Machine in a box! The whole project, completing a few steps a day, took about 3 weeks to complete ( not that complicated but going at my own relaxed speed.) One has to pay CLOSE attention to the pictured instruction booklet. It was a little confusing at first due to what the overall configuration of all 4 marble runs, as the instructions talked about A, B, C, D ways to construct the marble run. But once understood the overall construction was fun and challenging. A good way to exercise the mind and complete the little time machine city which will eventually go together to form (all 4 marble runs) an interesting marble adventure.

Colorful kit that can be a good start into Marble Mazes
Fun kit for kids or adults to assemble. Pros: - Good instructions - Easy enough to assemble - Neat design that is expandable Cons: - Noisy when the marble is running through the mazes. No easy way to deadent the noise. - Almost all plastic. Must be very careful not to leav sharp edges or snap parts in the wrong areas. - The marble run itself is quite short. Look up videos to see the speed. Not the most exciting option.

Fun to make kit
This was a ton of fun to make and not too difficult for a novice. It's absolutely a kit, not something to buy just to have the pictured model, only recommended if you find the idea of building it interesting.

Better made than the wood models
Very fun. You need to do two things in order to get it to run and for the lift to work. 1. Level it regarding the marble run. 2. Lightly spray a q-tip with WD-40 and lubricate each lift track triangle, where it pushes the ball onto the other side. The lift wouldn’t work at all until I did step two, and now it is faultless!

Cheap junk
Well the build WAS fun, taking a few hours with decent enough instructions….but then it doesn’t work. Half the lights came on, the lifting mechanism doesn’t work at all. So several hours wasted for poor quality, cheap junk. 100% will not buy anything from this manufacturer again
