My bed bug story: I woke up, decided to clean my sheets, on my mattress encasement (thankfully I bought one when I first bought the mattress, always take care of your valuables and be preemptive), where my head rests when I'm sleeping, there were a ton of bed bugs and some other kind of bugs. I opened my window that week for a few days since the weather was super nice. The window sill had garnered a lot of "stuff." I wasn't sure what it was. Decided to wipe down the entire window sill. Some wind came in a couple of times, blew some of it inside, some on my bed. Didn't think much of it. Just wiped it off my bed and kept wiping the window. There is also a small gap between the window screen and the bottom of it where bugs can walk through. That's my educated guess on how all that happened. It's the only thing I did differently that week. I wash my sheets once every week, at worst, I'll miss a week but that's not common. After killing all the bugs on my bed with some cotton pads (I didn't want the blood on my encasement, obviously) and immediately putting all my sheets and comforter in the washing machine under hot water, I checked around my bed and noticed in one part of my room, next to my bed, where the carpet meets the wall, was infested with bed bugs. I grabbed a knife and for the most part, on it's side, I just smeared all the bed bugs. It was pretty bloody. Not fun, but very productive and very thorough. Threw the knife away. Not going to use that again. Then I doused my carpet with carpet cleaner (just the kind that makes your room smell nice), let it sit for a few minutes and started vacuum cleaning. I waited a few hours before bringing my sheets and comforter and pillow (I also had a pillow encasement on, thankfully, because that also had it's fair share of bugs on it too), back up from the dryer because I knew that any bed bugs left would come creeping up on the walls, and they did. So I killed those also. Then I put my bed back together. I also washed the mattress encasement. That's the first part of my story. The second part is what I did to prevent it from happening again. I'll make this one brief and bullet pointed. - I ordered a bed frame to get my bed off of the floor and give them less of a chance to reach my bed and create a breeding ground for them. - With the bed frame I ordered "bed bug interceptors." You put them underneath the stands of your frame and it traps any bed bugs trying to get to your bed. Very affordable and effective. - I checked in places that bed bugs would hide. For me this meant my dry erase board and surely enough, there were a few. My room also has ledges all throughout the room in the middle like a stripe. It looked like one of them built a nice little spot for itself. I really don't have too much on my walls. For most people this will mean picture frames, posters, wall shelves. - I checked all my wooden furniture. This is my dresser, desk, table, and small dresser, and got them all cleaned and wiped down. - I also moved every piece of furniture I have in my room 2-5 inches away from the walls. - I ordered outlet covers because apparently bed bugs can hide in the outlets when it's dangerous for them and when it's safe come back out. I believe that is everything I did leading up to this spray. Spray review: I really like it. It does have a smell but it's a nice pleasant smell, floral like. It shoots out in a line versus spray, which I also like because it made it significantly easier to spray all parts of the room where the carpet meets the wall, including in my closest. The main thing I like about is how nontoxic it is to people. All it says under precautions is that if it gets on your hands to just wash them. Most "cleaning" products will have a long list of warnings and precautions, not this one. It even tells you directly on the bottle you can spray your entire bed, sheets, and even clothing, not to soaked but just damp. As for the size of the bottle, one bottle per infested room. It's recommended you do this once every seven days just for two weeks, which is just enough per bottle, and keep doing it if you want to make sure and just be safe. My bed bug issue is gone at the moment and it's thanks to everything that I did. The bed bug spray isn't meant to be a miracle cure for your bed bug problems. You also have to do numerous other things. As you accumulate preventive measures, you'll see less and less until there isn't anymore.

Okay, okay I'll be the first one to admit that I completely "freak out" if there's anything moving, crawling or creeping around me but ME!! I'm a very neat and clean person for that reason my motto is "if you don't pay rent here then you cannot live here"- period! My encounter began when I was visiting a neighbor who by the way is well advanced in age (80) but meticulously clean. Nonetheless, her grandson brought these miniature "stowaways" with him when he came to visit around Christmas. All unbeknown to me of course until I found out later that her house had been over run with Bed Bugs! Geez!! I was livid! You see, these bloodsucking "hijackers" had invaded my house without me having a clue. Although, my poor wife had been complaining that something was biting her and that she was breaking out on her arms. I almost cried when I realized that she had been right all along and that I hadn't taken her complaints seriously enough. I'm sorry baby I'll never do that again. To my (our) horror the Bed Bugs had infiltrated our brand new Stearns & Foster $2,000 dollar queen mattress set. Lord help me! So, I ran out and bought that expensive "Hot mess" in the "purple" can that rhymes with whatnot! Because, it is NOT! Anyway, I sprayed that mess until it almost killed me inhaling all those chemical and diffusers. What the...cough..cough "f!" I even sprayed this so-called Bed Bug Killer directly on the Bed Bugs and they just kept on crawling!! I could say I was cursing like a sailor but that would be too insulting to sailors! Now, I was in panic mode so I began looking for any information about how to rid myself of this infestation? I Googled this website, and Binged another website, and Yahoo..my "f'n" head off! I searched it seemed like everywhere and nowhere could I find any practical information or help until I searched Amazon! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Praise God! First of all, I want to thank every Amazon shopper who shares their expertise, their product reviews, and their results with us. Praise Jesus! So, I began to read, and I read, and I read, and I continued to read until I came across the feedback about this product. Yes, I was desperate, I was angry, and I was confused! But, low and behold I remember one reviewer said that she purchased this product and she that was upper respiratory sensitive like me. But, "to cut to the chase" was when she said that when she sprayed it on the Bed Bugs they died INSTANTLY!!! When she said that, WAS SOLD!! So, I immediately ordered (1) bottle express delivery! It was scheduled to arrived within two days however I was still freaking out! Two days was still too long for me because I had used bleach, alcohol, and all the "BS" home remedies that people uploaded on YouTube. Oh, yea a bunch of useless hogwash. But, I was in a jam, I was in a dilemma, and I was feeling boxed in! So, I got back online to Amazon looking for comfort and read some more about the results of this product and the testimony of others who used it. After reading a few more reviews I calculated that I would probably need at least two bottles so I ordered (4) more bottles! Hell, I figured if nothing else I'd go into the exterminator business and rid my neighbors Bed Bugs too! Especially, if she'd be willing to cover the cost of the additional product since that's how I got in this mess in the first place. Happily, I want you all to know that in my humble opinion Eco Defense Bed Bug Killers is one of the "best solutions" since sliced bread! So, buy this product at $20 plus shipping cost and try it! You'll know as I know that it works just as advertised. Most important, you'll save yourself all that unnecessary frustration when you realize that you don't have to throw out your new bed. Puts Exterminators out of work.

Bear in mind, I had a level 1 infestation that had been pretreated with vacuuming, linens washed and dried on hot cycle, diatomaceous earth, and lavender spray (they do NOT like lavender). I repeated the process of washing and drying two days later when this spray arrived. This stuff does kill on contact. It's a bit of an astringent scent, but not unpleasant and faded out from the time I applied it to bedtime. You have to be diligent as these little bastards can hide really well. Edit to add: found 4 or 5 more of the bastards after one week. Found a few more after another week, and a few more this last time. I'm switching to another brand that claims to have residual effect for two weeks. Four stars as it does what they say it does, but no residual effects after it dries, and the two sprayers received with the jug didn't work. Note: Get yourself a good spray bottle or a small pressurized sprayer and BE THOROUGH. Edit to add: If I were you, and this is your first time dealing with these vermin, use the stuff with a residual. I used it once, and found no signs of life after a week. I sprayed again to make sure sure. It smells much better too.

I bought this product to take with me to a conference at a hotel. I sprayed it between the mattress and the headboard. A bedbug came running out. A second spray killed him instantly. This product is wonderful. I immediately checked out of the hotel and I am so relieved that I did not bring bedbugs home to a house with a newborn baby.

This product is so-so. There are no directions to time the spraying with the night time feeding cycles with the damn bed bugs at 2AM, or timing it with the egg-laying cycle of 18 days (versus 30 days for fleas), or how often you can spray. Best advice (if you can afford it): get an exterminator ASAP that will guarantee their work for 6-months, as you might need multiple sprayings of the industrial insecticide to get rid of these buggers. If you CAN'T AFFORD IT, next best advice (from a fellow landlord), who swears her tenant tried this: Seal up the affected house or apartment by closing all doors or windows. Plan on being away for 2 days & sleeping at a motel. Put a roasting pan full of jalapeno peppers with a thin layer oil in an oven roasting pan. Turn on oven to 450 degrees. Bake pepper until the oven gets smokey. Turn oven OFF. Open the oven door, and run screaming out of the house (as the smoke with the jalapeno oils will burn your eyes). Let the smoke waft through the house for 2 days. According to my landlord friend: Viola! Gone after 2 days, and the residue it leaves behind leaves a barrier, preventing further re-infestations. Other advice: A - Pay attention to egg-laying cycles. Bedbug infestations can come with flea/mite infestations. Bedbugs/mites have a 15-18 day laying cycle, where the mid-night snacking attacks increase, because their are more children to eat you. Fleas hatch every 30-days. Spray every 2 weeks with bedbug/mite spray, then hit it that 3rd week with flea spray. B - Be prepared for the long haul, if you don't get an exterminator. If you get a professional exterminator, the nightmare is over in about 2 months, or less. If you choose to do it yourself, be prepared for up to a 6-month battle of spraying, as the stuff you buy on-line is not industrial strength. C - Cut off all possible avenues where re-infestations can occur. In my case, it was possibly traceable to a friend's flea infested home, whose dog I walked. If you have rental property that might be infested, don't enter unless you are wearing those zip up painter suits, that cover you from head to toe. D - Don't believe the naysayers that tell you: "It's just fleas." It ain't. If you get attacked at night, around 2AM to 3AM, and the bites are all over your body, it's bedbugs AND mites (more about the mites later). People will tell you the bedbugs bite in 3 in-line bites, and then they show you Google images, trying to debunk your suspicions. Don't believe them: if you're attacked at night, and bitten all over, it's bedbugs and mites. Fleas generally bite on your legs. Getting over everyone's helpful insistence that "it's all in your imagination" will go a long way to eradicating the problem. People who HAVE NEVER experienced this, try to drag you down, by keeping you in DENIAL, hence prolonging the nightmare. The naysayers might mean well, but if you ain't been to Paris, don't talk like you been there. E - Cut off the night time source for the bedbugs: YOUR SKIN. Slather yourself after every shower in vaseline, head to toe. This suffocates any bedbugs or mites hiding on your body, and they will loosen their grip on your skin, and be more readily visible. Consider switching from a hot shower (does nothing) to a hot hot soak in a tub for 20 minutes. Soaking will prompt the damn buggers to be more visible. Wipe off any black dots that appear on your skin with toilet paper, and flush down the toilet. These black dots (about the size of a very sharp pencil tip) are "mites." People that have worked around paper or boxes, call them "paper fleas," and hunters sometimes call them "chiggers." After you wipe with vaseline, and wipe them off, douse your body with medicated powder. The powder does 2 things: it calms the itchiness, and makes your skin an unwelcome place for these buggers. Also, consider using essential oils with scents of cinnamon or frankincense/myrrh to slather over your skin, as the strong scents irritate bedbugs/mites. F - Take a bendadryl to get a good nights' sleep. Dealing with this wears on you, as you only get 2-4 hours of uninterrupted sleep. G - A word on histamines... The bites spur the release of histamines throughout your body. You will have vivid nightmares, you will feel a "crawling out of your skin" sensation akin to when you had childhood chicken pox, Arguments will increase; edginess & discomfort increase. Take an allergy pill and stomach acid reducer (like pepcid to increase the allergy pill's absorption & effectiveness) to decrease the itchiness caused by the histamines. H - Purge purge purge extra clothing and furniture. For you hoarders out there (you know who you are), this will be a difficult milestone to reach. You will need to limit your supply of clothing, as you will need to wash each change of clothing DAILY. Meaning, after you wake up in the morning, put your bedclothes in the pile to be washed. After you come home from work, shower immediately, and add your clothes to the pile to be washed. You will only beat the bedbugs if you can limit your clothing supply that they ride on. Washing clothes: a) wash in hot water, and b) MOST IMPORTANT, dry your clothes for 1 HOUR minimum to kill those suckers. Again, be prepared for anywhere between 2 months to 6 months of daily washing to combat these suckers. I - Consider purging your furniture and your bed. Bedbugs hide in the bottom of your couches, and in dresser drawers. If you are not prepared to throw away your prized sofa or bed, be prepared for the long haul of 6-months, because you will have to tear out the bottom black lining of your sofa & spray underneath at the 15-day interval, and spray your whole mattress, especially the piping surrounding the perimeter of the mattress. J - Consider dousing yourself with cologne or perfume to keep the bedbugs, mites, and fleas at bay in public areas. These buggers don't like strong scents. Other than that, good luck and God Bless you on this wonderful chaotic journey!

I was getting bites all over my legs over night for about a week. I moved to the couch in the living room to stop the bites and itching and slept there for almost two weeks trying to think of what I was going to do. I searched high and low for signs of bed bugs, but I couldn't find any. Just about when I was thinking I'd have to bit the bullet and buy a new bed, I found the Eco Defense Bed Bug Killer. I decided I'd pay the ~$19 plus shipping just to see if it works. If it works, then I don't have to spend the hundreds of dollars it would take to buy an all new bed. If it doesn't, I'm not out that much money. When I received it, I got right to work. I stripped down my bed and sprayed my mattress all over: top, bottom, and the sides. I sprayed the floor under my bed. I let all that dry then started putting my sheets and blankets back on, spraying each one after it was put on. After I was done, there was still about half of the bottle left. I went out to do my laundry because the smell was fairly strong and making my nose run and making me sneeze a lot. After I got back from doing laundry, the smell was gone and I wasn't sneezing or anything anymore. That night I went to sleep in my bed instead of my couch in what seemed like forever. I was really nervous because the bites I had gotten before were just starting to go away and I didn't want to get anymore. My mind played a lot of tricks on me that night. I constantly felt something crawling on my legs or biting me. I'd shine my cell phone light and wouldn't see anything. Just my imagination. I woke up the next morning and not a single new bite to be found. After two weeks of sleeping in my formerly infested bed, I have not gotten any new bites and all my old bites are almost fully healed. There are a lot of expensive options for treating your home for bed bugs, but I'd tell anyone to try this product first. It's a $20 cheaper than getting a mattress encasement, and hundreds of dollars cheaper than getting a new bed and/or getting your entire room sprayed by an exterminator. If you're desperate and trying to find a way to get rid of bed bugs, this is the product for you!

Caught two full grown female bed bug recently and took every precaution, including quarantine, seal, laundry with steam, then dry in the temperature of the sun, vacuum seal it, dismantle every furniture, quarantine, repeat, inspect bed, mattress, seams, frame, yada yada.. saved the two specimen and locked them up in a clear container and ordered this product. Upon receiving this item, used my tweezers to take one out and placed it on a white parchment paper and sprayed it directly in stream setting, soaked the bed bug and parchment paper. Instantly the bed bug reacted from it and appeared to be dead and stopped moving. I used the tweezers to remove it from the soaked spray area for close inspection after 5+ minutes.. then it started to move again. This time in spray setting, I sprayed it directly and once again, it reacted from it and stopped moving. Now being fully skeptical, poked, prodded, and moved the beg bug around with my tweezers. Within few minutes she was alive once again and started to move. Placed her back in the clear container with others and ten or so minutes later, couldn't tell which bed bug got sprayed since they were both moving around AND ALIVE!!!! DO NOT SPEND ANOTHER DIME ON THIS FRAUD OF A PRODUCT, BELIEVING THAT THE BED BUG HAS BEEN KILLED!! Direct spray may appear that they are dead, give few minutes in a closed container and I guarantee you they will come back to life. Update: Forgot to update this review (I actually forgot that I wrote a review of this product), and the bed bug that got directly sprayed ended up dying next day. So directly being sprayed killed it, but not right away and it does NOT HAVE RESIDUAL effect since the other female bed bug was alive and active when the other was soaked when I placed it back into the container (while they constantly wrestled each other). So in a way, it did work, but to have people pay over $20 per bottle that you can get better results with 91% IPA does is taking advantage of desperate situation like 76% of garbage that's out there on the market. All it takes is doing some research and you will find out what product or methods work for FREE!!

Get this and some Hospitology bed bug covers. ________ Materials: Eco Defense Bed Bug Killer, Natural Organic Formula Fastest, 16 oz. The active ingredients are Sodium Lauryl Sulfate 4% and Geranium Oil 0.5%. The rest is water, citric acid, and ethyl lactante. The ingredients break down in the natural environment and do not build up in the human body. Sheets were Sleep Defense System - Waterproof / Bed Bug Proof Mattress Encasement - 60-Inch by 80-Inch, Queen and Sleep Defense System - "Bed Bug Proof" Box Spring Encasement - 60-Inch by 80-inch, Queen . ________ Methods: First, we found their nest. The nest was found under the box frame directly below where we layed our heads. Then, we collected a sample adult with tweezers, placed it in a plastic bag, and sprayed it directly. After elimination, we covered the mattress first, and then, the box frame. Because they were found on the box frame, we took extra care not to disturb any potential survivors as we covered the box frame. We slipped the cover over the box frame and legs. We slipped the cover on as much as possible, carefully lifted each leg, slipped the cover over one leg, and repeated until all legs and the box frame were covered. _______ Results: Our bed bug nest location corroborates the statistic that bed bugs are found on the bed >90% of the time. The sample adult bed bug died 1-2 seconds after being sprayed. We used the whole bottle to spray the edges and corners under the box frame. Spraying so much made me cough and made my fiance nauseous. No bites since spraying and covering the mattress and box frame. __________ Discussion: We are extremely satisfied with the effectiveness of the products used to eliminate our bed bug problem. We will keep the sheets on for 3-4 months. The eggs will hatch in 2 weeks and die in a third week. Any other survivors older than first instar will die of starvation between 1-4 months. __________ Conclusion: The products used in this situation were found to be highly effective at eliminating noticable bed bugs. The efficacy of preventing future infestation still remains to be seen beyond 2 weeks. I will be purchasing the spray again, if necessary.
