Review: I am a serial crafter and not particularly artsy but will have a go at almost anything. I came across Peculiarly Ashley online and relax to her creepy crafting videos. Most of what she makes is from out and out trash with a bit of paint and a few specialty items and her talent is obvious. This made me ponder about buying her first crafting book and I am really glad I did. It is a paperback but the pages are all on high quality, thick paper which does make it feel enticing to pick up and flick through - not sure I am brave enough to try any of the builds yet but I have found myself squirreling certain things away for future use and ordering some fancy patina stuff. The projects are really well photographed and each one is broken down in to easy to understand sections with accompanying step by step photographs. This does make the crafts feel nicely accessible. Currently retailing at £18-£19 for the paperback version it is on the pricier end but it is definitely worth every penny. Review: I saw this book a long time ago and didn’t get it, figured I knew how to make my own creepy stuff well enough. Only recently I started watching some of Ashley’s YouTube videos and knew I NEEDED this book. There are so many ideas and the steps helped me figure out how to springboard into my own creepy creations. My favorites are her miniatures scenes and there’s not much of that in this book but you can get a lot of ideas from her videos. (I will be honest, at first her neurotic chatter annoyed me but pretty soon it grew on me and now I love listening to her prattle on while she makes neat stuff. Ashley, if you are reading this don’t feel offended as I also tend to neurotic chatter and prattle on while I’m crafting with my cats.😻) This book is a great companion to the videos.
