Fun and engaging activity for the kids
As a parent of a 3 and 6 year olds, this kit definitely have us an afternoon worth of fun and excitement. The kids were certainly engaged the entire time was they awaited what mysterious treasure they would find. The curiosity and fascination of the digging aspect has led to my oldest wanting to become a geologist! The pieces they discovered are not super valuable in themselves, but the intrigue of the activity itself brings about so much additional value. Highly recommend for your young ones, as silly as it may seem. Great quality and nice looking gems came from this dig kit.

Fun activity but young kids might need help
Fun toy for my kids! They did need a little help as it was a bit challenging to get all the gems out. It was fun but messy!

GREAT FOR THOSE STUDYING PLANETS
My 7 yr old grandson is just starting to study planets in school, and while we were on Amazon, we came across these. He looked at all the pictures, and when we came across this one, he was truly excited. He asked if we could get it, and I said "probably so Bobby". So I ordered this, and plan on doing the "excavation" on Easter (all my grandkids get something special, along with gift cards and one chocolate bunny as I try to keep the candy to a minimum). He is also a rock collector, and was excited to see this comes with "rock gems", so I know this is going to be a hit with him. I plan to look at the others as well and pick a few more out for him.

So cool!
I love the informational poster that was included in this. My astrology buff child's first reaction was, "Jupiter is a gass giant! It's not solid!" But they were quickly won over when they started digging. I definitely recommend doing this activity outside. The "planet" is very chalky and can make a squeaky sound when you use the wooden digging tool. It made me cringe, but my child didn't seem to mind. My child was a little disappointed by the "diamond" which is an angular plastic blue gem. This is obviously not a multi-use toy. You can only dig out the gems once but it was still fun and my child treasures the stones. Otherwise, it was fun, educational, and occupied my child for about 30 minutes. Would recommend.

Small kit, but fun
This kit was smaller than expected- but has a decent amount of items inside. Contains the standard tools to break items free. Was softer than some other digs we’ve done, so that was a plus. Definitely didn’t really look like the planet we ordered (Jupiter) but the box was exciting because it was his favorite planet. The gems inside are small and pretty standard for these types of kits. Overall if you have kids who’ve done dig sets before, I’d pass on this one for something larger or with better quality items inside.
