NOW Music proudly presents the next chapter in the βNOW 12β 80sβ series β NOW 12β 80s: 1983 β Part Two - out 18th October 2024. With 49 extended, full-length, or remixed versions, this collection spans the dynamic spectrum of the year, and is part of the vibrant journey through multiple genres of music the 12β single made during the 1980s, with this second instalment of 1983 featuring synth-pop and new-wave hits alongside the catchy grooves of pop-dance and disco. This essential compilation is perfect for both dancefloors and collectors. CD1 kicks off with the U.S. remix of Wham!βs classic "Wham Rap! (Enjoy What You Do?)", starting off a stellar run of huge hits in their 12β versions: Spandau Ballet with the iconic "Gold", "Who's That Girl?" by Eurythmics, Bananarama with "Cruel Summer", while Culture Clubβs infectious "I'll Tumble 4 Ya" was a big U.S. and an essential 12β version. Some of 1983βs new chart stars are up nextβ¦the extended version of Marilynβs "Calling Your Name" and Kajagoogooβs "Too Shy (Midnight Mix)" feature alongside The Lotus Eaters, Men Without Hats and Flash And The Pan. The first disc wraps up with 12β gems including Joe Jacksonβs cool, synth driven "Steppin' Out", and Mike Oldfieldβs Top 5 hit βMoonlight Shadowβ. As a collection of β80s 12β versions, CD2 couldnβt open with anything more legendary than New Order with their groundbreaking "Blue Monday" β released only on 12β in 1983. Some timeless new-wave follows including The Cure with the extended version of "The Lovecats", Echo & The Bunnymenβs "Never Stop (Discotheque)" and Public Image Limited with the remix of "This Is Not A Love Song". Aztec Cameraβs "Walk Out To Winter" adds a touch of indie-pop before huge chart pop from Madness with "The Sun And The Rain", and TRACIE and Tracey Ullman providing a fun, upbeat interlude. The disc closes with extended versions of anthemic pop from Paul Young with "Love Of The Common People", Rick Springfieldβs "Human Touch", and Yes with the βSpecial Remix Dance Versionβ of βOwner Of A Lonely Heartβ. CD3 is all about the dancefloor, opening with one of the deacdesβ biggest floor-fillers from Lionel Richie with "All Night Long (All Night)", followed by KC & The Sunshine Bandβs irresistible #1 "Give It Up". Donna Summerβs empowering "She Works Hard For The Money" is up next, followed by β80s disco classics, Indeepβs "Last Night A D.J. Saved My Life", and Divineβs βLove Reactionβ. Fabulous fusions of hip-hop and electro-pop follow courtesy of Malcolm McLaren with the iconic βDouble Dutchβ in its full 12β version, and Rock Steady Crew with the extended version of β(Hey You) The Rock Steady Crewβ. More dance-pop from Modern Romance, and Shalamar, while Booker Newberry IIIβs soulful "Love Town", Billy Griffinβs βHold Me Tighter In The Rainβ and Level 42βs smooth "The Sun Goes Down (Living It Up)" round off this funky disc. CD4 begins with the Monster Mix of Duran Duranβs first #1 "Is There Something I Should Know" and Heaven 17βs timeless "Temptation". Tears For Fears deliver brilliant pop on the extended version of "Change", while Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark and Blancmange continue a superb run of synth-pop gold with βTelegraphβ and βThatβs Love, That It Isβ, ahead of Japanβs cover of βAll Tomorrows Partiesβ and Annabel Lambβs cover of "Riders On The Storm". The disc concludes in style with Yello ahead of Talk Talkβs "My Foolish Friend" and Midge Ureβs collaboration with Mick Karn on "After A Fashion" β even more sublime in itsβ extended version, wrapping up this second volume of 1983βs 12β essentials! Review: Great album capturing a great era in British Music - A good selection of songs from a phenomenal era in British music. 12" versions CAN be great (others can be a bit boring and repetitive) but this CD has MORE great tracks than not. A particular shout-out to my favourites; The Sun & The Rain, Who's That Girl, Too Shy, The Safety Dance, Lovecats, Love Of The Common People, All Night Long (All Night), Give It Up, Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, Double Dutch, Love On Your Side and lots more. Awesome
An amazing collection of top quality 12" singles in one place, however where is The Crown by Gary Byrd, and also Microkid by Level 42? The Highlights has to be Moonlight Shadow by Mike Oldfield and Who's That Girl by The Eurythmics. Thank you Now Music - 1984 to come...

Excellent value and an eclectic mix of artists
Now never disappoint with their now 12β releases. 4 CDs for just over a tenner, you canβt go wrong. Brilliant mix of artists takes you right back to 1983, who needs a Time Machine when music takes you right back so well. Only negative has to be the cheap packaging seemingly deliberately designed to scratch the CDs as you remove and replace them.
