Game changer
I’ve been testing the Action 5 Pro on my local mountain bike trails, and it’s a total game-changer. For anyone who loves high-energy sports like MTB, this camera is built to keep up. The video quality is outstanding—I’m shooting buttery-smooth 4K at 120fps, with vibrant, true-to-life colors, even when racing through dense forest sections. The real standout is the stabilization. DJI’s RockSteady and HorizonSteady technology feel almost like magic. Even on the bumpiest, root-filled descents that would normally wreck footage, the video comes out perfectly smooth. It gives me the confidence to focus fully on the trail while knowing the camera has the rest covered. It’s genuinely rugged too, I've ridden through rain and mud without any issues, and the dual screens are brilliant. The front screen is perfect for checking your shot while riding. Battery life has been reliable as well; the 1950mAh battery easily lasts through a long sessions. I was pleased to find the camera has 64GB of built-in storage (approximately 47GB usable), which is plenty, plus you can add a microSD card for extra space. The subject tracking is another great feature, locking on and keeping me perfectly framed—ideal for when I’m focused on staying upright! If I were to be picky, the proprietary Bluetooth is a slight downside. It locks you into DJI’s system for remotes, which feels a bit restrictive. But honestly, it’s a small complaint for what’s otherwise a fantastic piece of gear. Overall, this compact powerhouse has completely changed how I capture my rides. It produces professional, cinema-quality footage that makes even my wildest rides look incredible. If you’re thinking of upgrading your action camera, I wholeheartedly recommend this one.

Outstanding
Most important thing: the app is excellent and there are no security issues with it. Upgraded from an Osmo 3 (which I still use in addition). This is amazing, it's nice and light, battery lasts a good 3 hours, easy to use and has built-in storage in case you get caught with a full SD card. The image quality and sound quality are excellent. It's very quick to set up and you can start it recording instantly. It has many different modes including slow motion and time lapse. There is also a horizon balance mode which is really good. Seems sturdy and the magnetic plus physical clip is strong. Never overheats, never crashed, never corrupted. Has actually been flawless.

My ultimate adventure buddy: rock-solid DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro Adventure Combo
Honestly, every DJI product I’ve tried has been synonymous with top-notch quality, and this Action 5 Pro Adventure Combo is no exception. Right out of the box, setup was a breeze – the intuitive menu, straightforward mounting system and instant wireless pairing meant I was filming my first shot in minutes, not hours. Performance-wise, this camera delivers stunningly sharp 4K footage at silky-smooth frame rates, and the dual-screen design lets you frame vlogs or POV shots without awkward guesswork. The rugged, waterproof housing feels indestructible – I’ve taken it cliff-jumping, kayaking and off-road cycling, and not a scratch to show for it. Battery life is impressive too, powering a full day’s worth of shooting without needing a top-up. For the price, it’s phenomenal value for money. You’re paying for bulletproof build quality, easy-peasy usability and cinematic results that rival much pricier gear. I’d buy it again in a heartbeat and wholeheartedly recommend it to fellow thrill-seekers looking for a reliable, durable and downright fun camera. This combo has genuinely levelled up my adventures – you won’t regret it!

The best value package for the Osmo Action 5 Pro
This package includes plenty of power and a really good telescopic pole along with the Osmo Action 5 Pro. The camera itself is impressive quality with a host of features such as being waterproof without additional housing, 10 bit colour options, good image stabilisation and useful voice control. Personally I have been carrying it in my backpack since purchase (approx 6 months ago) and with a study mini tripod attached to the bottom of the pole I use it to capture photos (using voice control) and videos while out and about with my family and it does this impressively. The image quality is very good and the firmware updates since launch improve it even further. With the out of the box settings you can get near 4 hours of footage from one battery (tested and works!) and a bit less if you set it to the highest possible setting for bit rate and resolution. Overall its a multi use "action" camera that is very versatile and the regular firmware updates mean it is being refined even further as you use it. Unlike my other brand action camera it has never crashed (which was a major flaw in my other big brand cameras, regularly losing footage) so for this alone Im very happy but the overall quality is also very high indeed.

A great little camera
I purchased this item with my own money and have not been provided with any incentives to provide this review. I purchase the DJI action 5 pro to use as an action camera and for blogging. It’s the first camera of this type that I’ve used moving away from the more traditional DSLR cameras. The camera itself is lightweight and feels very good quality. The size surprised me at first with just how compact and neat it felt. The main function is obviously the video and the quality in the various shooting modes is excellent. I’ve had it fixed to the front of my bike on sunny days, indoor for sports and even in an aquarium to capture fish and the end results all looked great. I got mine on Prime day so camera had a good discount - delivery took longer than expected and initially they thought the parcel was lost so took around 2 weeks to arrive. Camera comes with a magnetic clip - there are various accessories and third party accessories that can make recording easier such as cases, tripods and various mounts. I’d recommend getting an extra battery or two and a decent sized quick SD card as well as a sturdy case if you’re using it for any sport activites. The magnetic mount is super easy to use and you can keep them on the accesssories you use most which makes swapping the camera to different mounts super easy. Sound quality is good - the camera can also be easily paired with an external microphone. The DJI ones are small and super easy to use and the sound quality and wind reduction noises are really fantastic. Would definitely recommend

Upgrade from Osmo action 3
I bought that camera after I saw advert that Dji have released Osmo action 5. I was using Osmo action 3 for last couple years and everything was great apart from low light performance which I was hoping get better. I was tempted to upgrade to action 4 but did not feel that it will be much of an upgrade from 3. And I am really happy that I have waited and finally got Action 5 pro. Action 5 got same great built quality as any dji product. It feels premium just holding it in your hand. All Action 3 accessories are compatible with 5 so I do not need to spend any extras on batteries and mounts which is great. Video quality is great with biggest difference noticeable in low light even without super night mode on. Super night mode works almost in pitch black conditions which is crazy, but don't expect cinematic quality as sensor size is still too small for night shots. But at least it is usable. All in all I am really happy with upgrade. This is my all round camera which I use for home videos, beach and ski holidays and now I feel I will not need to take my phone out of pocket in the evening to capture great shots. 5 stars from me. PS. Update after 2 months of use. This is great camera and just getting better and better with firmware updates. Stabilisation is great, tested with bicycle in the forest, cant wait going skiing with that later this year. And I stopped using my phone when i got camera with me so videos turn out a lot better now as they filmed on one device. There is a lot more reviews now and I am just amazed how people can give 1 star because of delivery issues or they cannot install app on the phone without playstore (how do they manage to edit videos on PC - seriously). Tell more about quality of sound without mic and picture, delivery is not camera or dji issue. Just to let you know I am not sponsored by DJI and actually getting Gopro 10 used for my son as they are tad cheaper now than Osmo action 3/4.

What DJI Does Not Tell You
First impression of this camera is that is looks very well made and certainly the reviews were good. However, I am giving it 1 star because there is a fundamental problem with it. What DJI do not mention, neither on the Amazon page or their own product page – is that you must instal an app (DJI Mimo) on a smartphone to activate the device. You can switch it on 7 times without installing the app, but after that it locks and will not respond. OK, so if you don’t have a smartphone but borrow one from a friend in the hope that you can just activate it and then uninstall? There comes the next problem. The app is not available on the Google Play store. It doesn’t meet the safety and security requirements and was removed in 2021. OK, so how bad can it be? Well, if you attempt to install on a smartphone via the given QR code, you will get the message “For your security, your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source.” Does not instil confidence. But the worst part is, if you override that message and install anyway (on an old phone with no SIM or personal details), you will be asked to sign a licensing agreement which has a clause which demands that you agree to never sue DJI. Ever. If you do not agree to this, you cannot use the software and thus your camera is useless. DJI state that in that case you can return the product and may be given a refund. Now, some people might think that agreeing to not sue the manufacturer of a camera isn’t a big deal. But what if one of their drones malfunctions and hits you on the head? You can’t sue. If in the future DJI make a driverless car and one runs you over? You can’t sue. You might think this is a bit fanciful, but consider the recent case where a man attempted to sue Disney after his wife died from an allergic reaction after eating at a restaurant at Walt Disney World. Disney attempted to have the case thrown out because the man had signed a ‘no sue’ agreement in 2019 when he signed up to the streaming service Disney+. Disney argued that as a result, he couldn’t sure them for anything, ever. Even though there was no logical connection. I do not think that this is an acceptable practice by DJI and I will not be buying any of their products in the future. Amazon should make it clear on the product page that you cannot use this product without installing an app (that is not secure enough for Google Play Store) on a smartphone. I have returned it and purchased another make instead.

Excellent upgrade from Osmo Action 3
I am slightly miffed this was on Vine for review (seeing a lot of these reviews, no idea how they got theirs), my wife is on Vine but I never saw this available (at all). anyway. I paid for this with my own money, this is my review. Coming from Osmo Action 3 this is quite a big upgrade, where as I have heard the 4 to 5 Pro is not much of an upgrade, people have also had problems with this unit, I have heard there are some things DJI need to sort. At first, unboxing and pairing with my phone, it refused to update the firmware and would not pair with my phone, kept saying Error Connecting to Unit, restart and retry. It also wouldn't turn off. I'd turn off the unit, within seconds it turned itself back on. I eventually took the battery out, restarted the Osmo Action 5 Pro and it then paired and upgraded, not had an issue since. While going through the settings, there are loads of new features from the Action 3 to Action 5 Pro, like Subject Tracking, the Battery Life and the better low light performance. I didn't upgrade the Action 3 to the Action 4 as I didn't really see the upgrade of features outweighed the price difference, it did everything I needed 4k 120fps etc. Where as to the Action 5 Pro, there are plenty of new features that makes it worth the upgrade in my opinion. Also I was a bit annoyed at DJI with their new battery grip is only compatible with the 4 and 5 Pro, not 3. This was another reason to upgrade. Apart from the bad start with the firmware, which is now sorted, I haven't seen or experienced anything that is annoying or frustrating, nothing I don't like, it seems great and very happy I upgraded.
