Nothing fancy, but all you need!
This only has 1 button and only connects to an app via Bluetooth. Open the app, set the temp and done. You don’t need any other features in a sous vide machine. That’s the whole point of these things, set it and forget it. Verified steady accurate temps using my thermoworks probes. This thing works perfectly. Is the Bluetooth connection spotty some times? Yes. But all Bluetooth is! Soon as you loose connection it doesn’t like to reconnect but car stereos do the same thing. Close the app and reopen it and all is solved. But honestly never have I needed to open the app a second time after setting the temp. Pressing the top button stops the cook, but doesn’t resume it fyi. Either way, works great. Got it on sale for $20. Worth it 100%

Surprisingly Expensive for $19.99.
Basically fails at every important / crucial features in a sous vide machine No Alerts - not with app nor the machine. Basically need to set own timer if plan to use it. Temperature fluctuation - since the internal thermometer is so slow, the temperature goes up and down a few degrees the entire time Inaccurate internal thermometer - when tested with 2 other digital thermometers, temperature was off by 4 degrees. - tested also another sous vide machine in the same water bath heating to 167F (Inkbird 200, which I recommend) and the Anova mini's app or thermometer was so delayed that it only showed 167 on the app a full minutes after it was hit and confirmed by the Inkbird. It was about 5 degrees behind the whole time heating up. Completely failed when doing low temperature test - it never stopped raising the temperature after hitting the desired temp. The timer just started counting down the moment the temp was hit Sound - quiet if never used another sous vide machine before but compared to others, quite loud. And higher pitched than comfortable. No physical buttons except pairing mode App only gets the time and temperature Bad customer service (emailed Anova with detailed explanation of problems and my troubleshooting and got 2 replies just telling me to try to reinstall the app and to try the app on another phone) I recommend Inkbird 200w if looking for a machine that has physical buttons, app that is useful, and super quiet and under $75 Thank you Amazon for great customer service (unlike Anova) and allowing a return

excellent unit
Connects easily to smartphone APP. Just plain works. Temps are spot-on & stable in a 12 qt tub. The APP is pretty basic for setting & monitoring (time, temp) & control, & has a large collection of recipes. Have used for various fish (haddock, salmon, tuna), for chicken thighs & breasts, & for ribeye, NY strip, tri-tip, & bison steak, Beef Bourguignon, pork chops, lamb chops, carrots, cabbage wedges so far - all turned out superb. re comments that the APP frequently disconnects, no big - the unit continues to operate at the set temperature, & to reconnect, merely close the APP & reopen it.

A steal!
An absolute steal for $20. Probably still a steal at $40. At that price point, I was expecting some kind of functional compromise, and yet: Brought my largest metal pot of water to temperature in 30m and kept it there. That's all I really needed it to do. Sous vide revolutionizes slow-cooking meats, I can't imagine making a brisket or duck breast without this anymore. It's fantastic that Anova is pricing this in a way that puts delicious, healthy, low effort, high reliability cooking into everyone's reach. I thought I would be annoyed by the lack of a display and necessity of yet another app, but the app is well done (see what I did there?) and ultimately I would rather check my phone than walk into my kitchen anyway. I wish it came with a safe, sanitary storage case, but I can survive without that.

It works.
Quality packaging and construction. Doing my first 5 drumstick cook right now. Connectivity instructions are not complete. How to use with Bluetooth only, not wifi, would be good. I did connect through my phone, but would like to do Bluetooth off my laptop at home, and leave with my phone. Not sure if that will work. If I leave and it disconnects, does the cook stop? I'll try to update after I find out. The app is working. It won't start the set cook time until it comes up the setting. That's good. Avoiding the subscription links is not clear.

Disappointed, wish I went with a different company
I've had this for a few weeks, maybe a few months at this points. It's extremely unreliable, seems to have a faulty sensor. Mine worked fine for about two uses, but after that it started reporting "low water level" and shuts itself off. It doesn't matter how much water I put it, it still shuts itself off and says low water level. I don't even know why that's a feature. An electric kettle will still turn on if you forget to put water in, a curling iron will still heat up if you forget to turn around and walk away. This safety feature is just an annoyance that doesn't work. On top of that, the device has no on button, you have to turn it on or off from the phone. The app that comes with it is completely unreliable and fails to connect half the time. So generally I'll turn it on, it works for a few minutes but then shuts itself off unexpectedly. I open the app again to try to turn it back on, but I get the low water warning and a message that says it can't connect, so I have to fiddle with it some more to try and turn it back on. The app has a timer feature, but it doesn't actually do anything. It doesn't shut off the machine, it doesn't send you an alarm or notification, when it gets to 0 it just starts counting down into the negatives. The app features in the images are actually additional paid features. Apparently they were free and part of the app before but now you need a subscription. I specifically bought Anova because I didn't want a cheap Chinese knockoff, even though for the same cost there were other devices with more features, I wanted to support a US company. But this device is probably the worst piece of tech I have ever owned. I will try to return it and get a device from a different company.

Makes yogurt and cooking super easy
I got the Anova Culinary Sous Vide Precision Cooker Mini, 850 Watts, 2024 Model and it has completely changed the way I make L. reuteri yogurt and other recipes at home. The setup is simple and the app makes it easy to control the temperature precisely. For my yogurt, maintaining a steady temperature is key and this device does it perfectly. I’ve been able to get consistent, creamy results every time without worrying about hot spots or fluctuations. It heats up quickly and holds temperature very accurately. I’ve also used it for eggs, meat, and vegetables, and everything cooks evenly and stays juicy. The mini size is nice for my kitchen since it doesn’t take up much space, but it’s still powerful enough to handle several jars of yogurt at once. Cleaning is easy too. The stainless steel part detaches and can be wiped down quickly, and the rest of the unit doesn’t get messy. If you want precise temperature control for yogurt, sous vide cooking, or experimenting with recipes, this mini cooker works exactly as advertised and makes the process simple and reliable.

Love this little machine!
Yea you need the app but not necessarily the paid part of the app. You can set your time and temps with the free version. If I were doing a long cook I would get up off of that $10 so I could keep an eye on it via wifi….which for some reason you need anyway even tho it connects via bluetooth…idk why. But still. This little machine rocks and it’s so quiet! Not like my big (noisy) unit at all and I just love it. Plus now I can just cook a couple of steaks and not have to drag out the big stock pot so I’m doing sous vide more often (yay me!) Also the temps have been spot on according to my thermopop. I’ll probably get up off that $10 sub fee anyway just because I love it like that…. it was a great price and I ordered with rather low expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. One other thing, I read where some have only been able to connect to the unit with a single phone but I was able to control it alternately with my iphone and also my android, (but obviously not at the same time).
