Updated third season review/ new 5000 btu unit addition
The two 8000 but units that we purchased have worked well this last season. They are reasonably quiet compared to the window ac units we've had over the years. What I really like is that the cool air comes out the top instead of in your face. It circulates the air better and no shutters to clean or break. They are as easy to install as any standard window unit, and the side panels make for a neat installed look. The app is good, though both units had instances where the room temp display froze up on the app and wouldn't update until the units were unplugged, then plugged back in. Otherwise the app is pretty informative. The remote works fine, but as it's an infrared unit the range is limited. The magnetically held filter cover is pretty trick, and the filter is the same type as you'd find in a split system, plus the charcoal filter. After running them this summer I'm impressed. They're not perfect, but nothing ever is in this world. If the app was flawless, and with an rf remote it would have earned 5 stars. Update: Both 8000 btu units are in their third season and running fine. The app works well enough that I don't know where the remotes are, and I can adjust them anywhere my Wifi signal reaches. With one unit on each floor of our tree shaded 1400 sq. ft. Cape they keeps things nice and cool in temps up to the upper 90's. They look good, work well, and have held up just fine. I took a chance with a relatively new manufacturer and it paid off. I'd buy them again. Update: I ordered a new 5000 btu unit for one bedroom that was tucked away and so far it's worked well. The room is about 150 sq. ft, in size, and it cools the room down very quickly. The assembly instructions were clear and easy to understand. The top rail goes on with a few screws, then the thick accordion panels slide into the sides, and the frames are pushed into the rails. Thats it. It has the same minimalist look but it's a little different from the larger units. The cool air exits from the top front which swivels from straight out to upward, and a small lever to adjust it from side to side. The display is nice and bright and goes blank after a time delay. I did have an issue with the filter. It was hard to insert into the side of the unit, so I reached out to product support. They responded quickly and sent instructions to make it easier to install. It's only been installed for a couple of weeks and so far I'm pretty happy with it. It linked to the app right away, it's nice and quiet and cools the room in a jiffy. 5000 btu ac unit Update: I contacted Windmill about the filter installation issue and they responded that night. They shipped me a new filter after a couple of weeks that's designed to be easier to install, and it works! Now it slides right in with no issues. Our cooling season has pretty much ended up north so the units will be stored for next season. The 8k btu units are still working flawlessly, and the 5k btu unit is working fine with the filter upgrade.

Excellent AC Unit
I love this AC Unit. It looks sleek and was easy to install. There is no issue getting the room cooled quickly, while also being super quiet, crucial for taking calls or watching tv while it's running. I usually use eco mode, but I also absolutely love being able to use the mobile app to adjust the temperature before I get home. I think it's absolutely worth the cost and more. Would recommend to family/friends and buy again.

Pretty disappointed to be honest
I built out a back yard shed into my new office. I was super excited to add this AC. I wanted WiFi and needed quiet. This has both. And it is very quiet, and the WiFi feature works amazingly. Now to the part the burns me up. Price is on the high end. And ...... wait for it........ my old $69 dollar unit that sounded like a freight train cools faster than this Windmill. So as to not bore you I'll make a list of pros and cons. You can take it from there. Pros: 1. Super Quiet. 2. Looks amazing for a window AC. 3. WiFi / App work wonderfully. Cons: 1. PRICE is crazy for what you get to be honest. Ridiculously high priced. 2. Foot print is large and out of normal dimensions. 3. Cover is cheap plastic, be very careful nothing bumps into the front. 4. Fan operations lag. If you want it to just shut down after reaching desired temps the fan will continue until it decides to stop. Very annoying. 5. Did I mention the prices? I figured to get something on the more quiet side I would blow the budget and I did. And it's quiet.... not quiet enough to offset the cost. In closing. Do I recommend this unit? No I do not. For the price it's worth getting something a little louder that cools faster, shuts down quickly and cost 1/3 the price regardless the features that you can probably live without. I know someone is going to ask, so let me just add this real quick. "How many window and/or split systems have you installed?" Answer: Hundreds. ****changed my review to 1 star. After owning this for a year and running it as bedroom AC see only about 4months I have come to absolutely hate this AC unit. I have two others that I bought at HD and over a year later they are still running strong for a fraction of the price.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Product and STELLAR Customer Service
I've been a satisfied owner of two Windmill AC units – an 8000 BTU and a 6000 BTU – and my experience with these products and the company's customer service has been nothing short of outstanding. Product Performance: I purchased my first Windmill AC unit (8000 BTU) on April 26, 2022, and it has been an essential part of my home's climate control system. This unit not only cools efficiently but also operates quietly, which is perfect for a peaceful home environment. The second unit (6000 BTU) I bought on May 23, 2023, works flawlessly in another room, providing consistent cooling without any issues. Advanced Integration: I have an advanced setup in my apartment using Alexa automation to monitor various sensors. These sensors track indoor temperatures, weather forecasts, and my location to optimize the AC settings. This ensures my home is at the perfect temperature when I arrive from work. The setup was seamless, and the Windmill AC units perform flawlessly within this system. It's been a lot of fun dialing it in, and the units are incredibly reliable. Customer Service: Recently, I encountered an unusual issue with my 8000 BTU unit. Despite being out of the standard one-year warranty, the customer service team at Windmill, particularly Lois, went above and beyond to assist me. They suggested various troubleshooting steps and were very patient as we worked through the issue. I will mention that appliances these days use computer boards and I have an extended warranty on my other unit and do recommend others consider the benefits. When the problem persisted, they offered to replace my unit as a gesture of goodwill. This level of customer care is rare and highly appreciated. The replacement process was incredibly smooth, and the new unit was shipped promptly. Their communication throughout the process was exceptional, making the entire experience stress-free. Final Thoughts: Windmill has earned my loyalty through their high-quality products and exceptional customer support. If you’re looking for an efficient, quiet, and smart-compatible AC unit, Windmill is the way to go. The seamless setup and outstanding customer service make it a worthwhile investment. Recommendation: I wholeheartedly recommend Windmill AC units to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient cooling solution. Their product quality and support team are second to none. I'll be sharing my positive experience on every review platform possible because they truly deserve it. Thank you, Windmill, for not only providing great products but also for standing behind them with such amazing customer service.

Beautiful AC, but not so "SMART"
3.5 Stars 1. Yes, this is the most elegant looking AC unit. It was also super easy to install and use (if you want to use buttons/remote). In the past, we needed assistance to install. This one was installed in <20 minutes and I don't think we'll remove it in the winter, either. 2. It's rather quiet and actually seems to be energy efficient. Keeps the house cool, is relatively quiet, doesn't run for long periods of time or take a long time to cool down. 3. The app is TERRIBLE (more below). 4. The customer service is slow & mediocre. 5. It's pricey - especially compared to other "smart" ACs - this one is "not so smart" IMO. The first one we got a coupon code from Wirecutter. Would recommend purchasing directly from Windmill. I purchased one unit from Windmill directly in February that was a 2022 model and a second from Amazon in March that ended up being a 2021 model. They require DIFFERENT apps to control them (the 2022 one being far more advanced than the 2021 model). While the physical installation of the units were super easy, setting up the Wifi and apps required waiting for customer service emails (that took >24 hours to respond each time). Have not been able to connect either one to Alexa with any success. I think we will end up just using a schedule instead of using them with Alexa devices as we originally intended.

It’s okay
I’ve had this air conditioner for 3 years so I can certainly speak on the long term use of this product. Pros and Cons: Pros: - Looks great and fits my window well - WiFi connectivity is useful - Remote works well - Cools the space efficiently Cons: - After 3 years of use, the unit starts to automatically turn down the temperature rapidly to 60 degrees, the lowest setting. When I try to increase the temperature to 70, my preferred temperature, it will continue to override my input and ignore the remote or physical button input on the unit. It will also make beeping noises randomly that are very loud and are not even remotely possible to make on your own by pressing the buttons. I’m assuming this is a logic issue on the board itself. - The thermometer is not accurate. - The Alexa connectivity isn’t great and Alexa says the unit is disconnected but still changes the settings fine. - The unit can make weird drone noises at times. Overall it is the best window unit I’ve had, but central air always is best.

Great product, even better Support!!
Ok, so Lil bit of a story. My original unit took a hit in recent storms here in TX. On top of that a heat wave, but ehh... it's TX. Nabbed this one on Monday June 19th...got it yesterday June 22. Ripped the old one out...slipped this puppy in ...gor it all connected to the network,(Yes the wifi feature is stupid cool, but to that in a moment...) was ready for that sweet sweet cold air (was 88 degrees of still, humid air in the room) ....to my dismay. It sounded like a rock tumbler....I quickly turned it off...made sure I didn't miss anything on the unpackage...I didnt... turned it all back on... same.... killed it. Contacted support via email ( only way to). Was expecting 24-48 hr response time, windmill support was like Bruh... Minutes...MINUTES later Francesca responded asked for a video of the issue for better troubleshooting...I complied and again MINUTES later she responded with a few steps to try. It was late too mind you, I was beat and still had to shower and crash for work next day. So I gave it the night. Next day: Emailed support advising that the previous steps helped considerably l, but was still rock tumbly sounding.. Lois stepped in. (Francesca needed sleep yall no judging). Lois gave me another round of troubleshoot. PICKING UP WHERE WE LEFT OF FROM BEFORE, not a complete rerun (this always irks me when that happens so was super happy it did not here)., and let me tell you this thing is QUIET!! And it cools so well. I'll be replacing another cpl of units that are trashed as well. Would not hesitate to buy again, 100% recommend Product AND support are fantastic! *update* nabbed a second unit, set up was just as easy as the first. No issues and house is getting back to normal.... now to get the upstairs cooled back off again!

Best AC I've Ever Owned
This is an expensive air conditioner, but I feel like when it comes to features per dollar its a great buy. Its much quieter than the other window AC's I have and have ever owned, this was important for me because I run video calls all day from home for work and its nice to be able to have the AC on during a call. The other feature that stands out most to me is the mobile app. You can link the AC to your Wi-Fi and control it from anywhere you have your phone. This means before you get home you can turn it on so your room is nice and cool when you get there. Or you can set it to 'eco' mode so it will keep your room at a stable temperature. The room its in is roughly 15x15 feet and it has no issue keeping it cool. When I open up the doors to my office it more than doubles the space, and it still does a good job keeping it cool despite technically being a larger space than the AC is rated for. Installation was a breeze and they include all the tools you need, including scissors to cut the insulation foam. Its about as stylish as an AC can be, not sticking out as far from the window as most do and blending in with your wall a bit better than most ACs. I may buy more of these for other rooms in my house eventually. If I do I can link them all to the same app and control my entire home's ACs from there which is pretty nice.
