Ella Bella Ballerina and The Nutcracker (Ella Bella Ballerina Series)

The Nutcracker is a beautiful but very long story that has been made into an exquisite ballet. This picture book retells the story of the Nutcracker in a simplified manner for a younger audience. I think it is perfect for the 4-8 year old. The narrative is uncomplicated and the pictures are very appealing. Personally, I think this is a perfect introductory book. It would be great to read this prior to seeing an actual live performance of the Nutcracker. It is well written, explicit and packed with beautiful illustrations. I highly recommend this book for a young ballerina!

Granddaughter loved it!

We are fans of the Ella Bella Ballerina series. My daughter loves The Nutcracker play so I knew this would be a good choice. We are more than pleased with the story line of this book and the illustrations. The story is simplified of course from the full version, but still retains the essence of The Nutcracker. My daughter asks for me to read this book again and again. It's a winner :)

I purchased this as a gift for my six year old granddaughter when just danced in her first Nutcracker performance. The illustrations are nice. I liked that it was a different version from the one she was used to. It opened up conversations on different interpretations and version of stories, songs, and plays. And it’s okay that things are different.

This is a nice story book. It kept the interest of my 5 year old daughter and requested it often for bedtime story. It should keep the interest of any girl that like ballet and familiar the Nutcracker story. We have kept it as part of the Christmas collection of books that gets brought down from the attic each year; to keep the variety. The hardcover book is standard thickness with nothing unusuall about the construction of the book itself.

My little is obsessed with the nutcracker and this book makes it so relatable to her. Ella Bella goes on a journey with Clara, helps her defeat the Mouse King and free the Prince. We love this book and are excited to read more books in this series.

Beautiful illustration! The book is quite long and just barely fits in our IKEA cubes, so keep that in mind. This will be a wonderful Christmas Ballet book for our 3 year old.

I liked the quality of the book. I purchased the book as a Christmas gift for a grandaughter.

Great classic story from a young child’s view very well illustrated

I purchased this book for my daughter named Ella (we call her Ella Bella) who is a professional ballerina. Her first professional performance was in The Nutcracker.

My five year old, ballet mad daughter, has long been a fan of Ella Bella Ballerina and has enjoyed her previous books: Ella Bella Ballerina and Cinderella , Ella Bella Ballerina and the Sleeping Beauty and Ella Bella Ballerina and Swan Lake . Now, just in time for Christmas, we have that famous festive story of the Nutcracker. As usual, Ella Bella is at her ballet class with Madame Rosa, when she opens the special music box and is transported into the story. Although the illustrations in these books are always lovely, this festive story seems even more magical than usual, as Ella Bella meets Clara and is whisked away to the Land of Sweets to meet the Sugar Plum Fairy. The Ella Bella stories are a lovely series of books, which introduce young children to stories from the most famous ballets. At the end of the book is information about The Nutcracker - who wrote it, who composed the music, where it was first performed, etc. These are absolutely delightful books by a wonderful author for children (if you want to introduce your child to great artists then look no further than his 'Katie' series, such as Katie's Picture Show ). These books are educational, informative, delightful and, most of all, great fun to read and this one would make any young child with an interest in ballet a wonderful gift.
