Did they fix the scroll mechanism that breaks after a few months like on the MX Master?

YES it did! You can change this via Logitech Options software utility. You select your mouse, click "Point & Scroll", then under "SmartShift" change that to Disabled. When you do that the auto-switching from ratcheting scrolling to smooth scrolling will STOP. The small button under the scroll wheel will then MANUALLY switch between the two scrolling options. I'm on the fence with this one to be honest: I paid $72 back to Logitech to essentially replace my MX Master Pro JUST to fix this vexing problem. This mouse appears to be the same as the MX Pro in all aspects to they made a few "under-the-hood" changes and fixed this issue. So in the end it is fixed and I'm glad for that anyway. I never found the auto-switching between scrolling modes to be very useful and never liked that to begin with.

What is the difference between this and the regular MX Master (besides almost $40)?

The big difference for me is the ability to control two computers. With one 2S mouse and a Unifying Receiver on each system, you can simply move the cursor between systems as easily as moving a cursor between multiple monitors. (this works on up to 3 systems w/receivers of course) And if both system are on a network you can copy/paste between systems. Also a plus on the 2S is battery life is supposed to be 10 times longer, than the MX Master. And the MX Master was already great battery-wise. I just got mine yesterday so I can't vouch for the 10 times longer battery life but for me that wasn't the reason for purchase.

1. Does not use the unifying receiver but bluetooth? On windows? 2. Does it require a switch to go from computer to computer? Or is it seamless?

You can use either the unifying receiver or bluetooth (or both). You can use on Windows and Mac. I've so far been using the button on the bottom to select which computer I want to control, but if you install their software it can seamlessly switch between them and even cut/paste across the two computers, but the seamless switching and sharing only works if both computers are on the same WiFi and both computers have the Logitech software as the Logitech software is going to need to communicate across the two installations and handle all the advanced functionality. I have the software installed, but usually one of my computers is on a work network and the other on my home network, so I haven't played with the Flow functions much. Like I said, simple button on the bottom lets you switch between three computers and I find that sufficient and easy and uncomplicated :)
