Deity PR-2 Pocket Recorder with Lavalier Mic US Version

Great product, perhaps the best in its category, but some pet-peeves that prevent the fifth star. There's no 1/4 20 mount; if you connect to a computer via USB it isn't immediately accessible, instead you have to dig through three menus and scroll down a bunch in each one. Press-and-hold for 3 seconds to record/stop recording got old real fast. But guys, its 32 bit and will record stereo and its tiny and it doesn't cut out unexpectedly like my F1 did. You should probably buy this 4-star product.

This is the smallest recorder I own, but it still performs as good as the bigger ones. The 5V plugin power allows me to run my DPA 4061 without a battery box; just a microdot to 3.5mm cable. The app works seamlessly with my iPhone 15 and having a locking 3.5mm jack makes recording in a low profile situation much less stressful.

This isn’t a bad recorder, but you can get one of those for a fourth of the price there seem to be a lot of extra features that I have no idea how to use because there is no manual in the box and the one online just is a lot of poorly translated language that doesn’t really help me figure out what’s going on, I can turn on the Bluetooth, but I’m not sure what you do with it, does it transmit or receive it doesn’t really say. Or maybe it does both. There are some extra functions in here. You’re not gonna find them the cheaper recorders, but I’ll be darned if I can figure out how to use them and I am not unfamiliar with technology. I suspect even if it does what I think it does, it’s not worth the kind of money they are asking for it. I have one for under $100 that even does transcription, albiet slowly. It seems to have a specialized used case, but I can’t figure out. I don’t think it’s designed for lectures and things like that because of the microphone that it has it’s a Lavalier so my guess is it’s supposed to record what you’re saying, not what the professor is saying. The whole industry where they just take tech objects, poorly translate, what they can do and slap on a random price and put it up on Amazon. I just don’t see where the value is in this one.

I absolutely LOVE this pocket recorder because it delivers pro grade performance and features that are in a class by itself. One of my favorite things is that it features true 32-bit float recording, so you never have to worry about setting the gain too high or too low. There aren't many pocket sized recorders in this price range that support 32-bit float, and of the ones that do, they lack features like a display and menu to control settings, making them harder to configure in the field without relying on an App. That said, there is an outstanding App for this system that lets you work with literally dozens of devices at the same time. Another feature I LOVE is that it also features real TIMECODE, so you can jam sync TimeCode into other devices to ensure they all have the same frame accurate time. To make this work, you can configure the output on the headphone/monitor jack to provide a TC signal that most prograde cameras have. I plugged mine into four of my Blackmagic cameras and they all picked up the signal and worked perfectly. I like the fact that you can use most industry standard mics, but the package already includes a high quality lav mic which has a threaded connector to ensure that it doesn't fall out, which is another important prograde feature. Another prograde feature I love is that you can lock the controls by triple tapping the side button just in case the person you are recording accidentally hits a button that stops the recording. This is super important. I've read that this system not only sends timecode, but can receive it, which is definitely something I haven't seen from other devices in this size and price range. One thing I can say is that timecode can really speed up editing when you have either multiple cameras or multiple mics.

The first thing that should be said about this pocket recorder is that it includes Deity’s highly regarded W.Lav pro microphone. That lavalier mic alone accounts for half the value here. It’s a great omnidirectional mic allowing for consistent levels and clear reproduction, even outdoors. It’s dustproof and waterproof and delivers incredible sound. The recorder is also meant for pro recording, although advanced hobbyists will find a lot to enjoy here, too. It is really quite small and can indeed fit in a pocket, making this one of the most portable recorders around. The mic plugs directly into the recorder, eliminating RF interference and dropouts to deliver clear 24-bit (mono/stereo) and 32-bit (mono) audio. The unit runs for up to 30 hours on two AA batteries (even though it says C batteries at one point in the product description). I’ve been using rechargeable AA batteries and replace them after each recording session and have never needed to go more than four hours or so. I haven’t yet done a stress test on maximum battery life. But I can’t imagine ever recording for more than just a few hours at a time. This unit can be controlled remotely (via Bluetooth) with the Sidus Audio app. It includes a belt clip holster and records on microSD cards (one 32GB card is included, but you’ll probably want to replace that with a 128 GB card).

Plain and simple: FAILED to capture my vows—and half of my audio (4 hours worth)—from my wedding. Deity tried blaming me and claiming user error, when I own 6 of these and the only one to fail was the one recording my vows… The company takes zero responsibility when their products fail and will try to shift blame. Don’t even attempt to ask them to refund a product when it fails. Horrible product by an even worse company.

The Deity PR-2 is a great product, but I was short changed by the seller. Bought as new but when I received the product the batteries were already in the unit, and the package for the lav mic was already opened. It should have been priced as open box. According to Deity I’m missing a small metal wire part that connects the lav mic to the clothing clip. Product itself is great. I love that it can switch between mic and line level. Nice back up to my Zoom F3.

Fantastico prodotto, qualità audio ottima e timecode che funziona bene nel suo ecosistema. E' anche utilissimo per inviare il time code a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 e Action 5 tramite usbc (ho anche i Diety TC1, ma non sono mai riuscito a trovare un cavo che vada bene per poter inviare il timecode ai prodotti DJI, nonostante su internet faccia vedere che si può...)

The sound is good. If you do not need wireless, just get this. If you still need something portable that does not care for directionality like a shotgun, because you move your head around or move around, just get this. I tried the Rode Wireless Pro, dear dear, the 1-2 seconds choppy/distorted sound every 30 seconds left me very disappointed. This does not have anything choppy, it's clean and clear. You just want to EQ a little and if you need clean up the audio for ambient sounds in post. Plus AA batteries, so easy to change, never gonna be an issue. That's a piece of gear you keep forever until you upgrade, not because its battery died.
