This was being used by the home health nurses assisting my husband so I finally asked what brand it was thinking if professional healthcare staff were using it, it must be good. BINGO. I threw out 5 other almost useless digital thermometers and now have one that actually is simple to use and works all the time. Those point-n-shoot ones are notoriously inaccurate and it’s inconvenient to have to place a sheath on oral thermometers. It cleans quickly with an alcohol prep pad. Would buy it again.

For the price, this is a very decent thermometer. Best way to acclimate and get comfortable using- is to try this on a few people a handful of times!! BUT.. listen to me when I say- try this when it arrives, before you ever need!! That way, you can eliminate added stress of learning to use at the worst time possible- When you or someone is ill! Sure! It’s not full proof… But, if you take the time to learn by taking same person‘s temperature x3-4 in a 10min period and do the same with another willing participant- you can get a good feel for it. This will become easy to use/read/navigate. Once you know the creature comfort’s… You should be able to get an accurate read the first time. Personally, I always double check any thermometer read- I will take a temperature, wait a few minutes and do it again as a rule of thumb- just for peace of mind!! ** Also, as a mom… I know when to go with my gut! It may sound crazy but it’s true. if, person feels feverish/warmer than their normal temp. Better to be safe than sorry and act on it. (I have a Dr. Dad from Stanford- with all his medical training, he advised me nothing is more certain than what you know to be true as a parent! If you think fever- you act.. and 9/10... you’re right!) I know- not all users are parents- sorry, bear with me!! So, how to practice/trouble shoot: You need- thermometer, 2+ willing participants- 1. person #1 gets temperature taken x3-4 within 10min. Time frame, and should produce the same or, slight .01 variation. The specifics of trial/error of where to place on temple will reveal themself. I call this spot the “sweet spot” on the temple..Think where you rub when tension headache happens- place and HOLD (no swipe!) till beep sounds.. A little practice and this will let you know how to work/how long to leave in place etc., and it will show you by results.. that it works, and with the repeated results, it will assure that it’s accurate read- 2. Person #2 you will do the same thing in between testing your first person.. why? Most likely.. neither of these 2 have the exact temp. as the other- therefore, giving you accuracy that it can read different people/temperatures and do so quite easily! Sorry- trying to be clear I may have made that more of a mess?!! Follow instructions, practice for ease of use when needed.. it works and if you do as it says, you shouldn’t be disappointed! ** I Purchased for $12.99- ive seen this fluctuate in cost- FYI, if purchasing keep an eye on price!!

This is the best thermometer. I hate the no touch infrared ones because those read 0.5-1 degree lower than accurate. That's important when you have a kid with 102.1 on the "no touch" (actual is 103.1 and they are baking hot) and you need to cool that tiny body faster. So I bought this for EVERY family member that takes care of my kids. You take care of my tiny humans - you use this thing. If you want infrared (others thermometers ) - check your temperature and see how it relates to your baseline and other thermometers before relying on it heavy duty (when you're crazy sick).

A must have item

The ADC Temple Touch Digital Thermometer has been a bit challenging to use with a wiggly baby. I hoped it would offer more accuracy than a touchless thermometer, but I keep getting varying results each time. It might be better suited for a more stable situation, but for now, it's been somewhat inconsistent.

I purchased this thermometer in 2017. I haven't used it a great deal, but so far it has been accurate as far as I can tell. I returned to purchase a few more for adult children. Price has increased almost double but compared to other digital forehead devices the price seems reasonable still. I have had no issues changing batteries. I am by no means technically inclined but it is simple to use. Last summer I had pneumonia and the temperature on the device matched the reading at the ER (104) when I decided it was time to get medical help. Unless the product has changed in the 3 years since I purchased it I can't understand the negative reviews...however I am sure just about everything manufactured can produce the occasional 'dud.' This device does require touch so I wouldn't recommend for schools or businesses but it has been a handy gadget for our family...especially with a toddler grandchild in our household.

My son recently had pneumonia (at 6 years old). It started with a severe fever. I had just a bit earlier, bought this thermometer because of the ease, speed and (yeah) the reviews I read. This thermometer UNDER-read his temperature, when his temperature was actually 107.4 degrees! YEAH! With this thermometer, it read just a bit over 102 degrees. I didn't believe the 102 degrees because of how HOT my son felt and used a traditional thermometer - immediately got him into a bath, and rushed him to the hospital. He's all better now, but this thermometer, during the course of his illness would read low, read high...I tested it on myself, and it would read a correct temperature, right after reading an incorrect temperature from my feverish son. I tested it against my son by repeatedly taking his temperature. Five tries, within a minute, got five different temperatures, ranging from BELOW normal to dangerously high! (all the while my son's actual temperature was moderately feverish! An incorrect temperature reading has potentially life threatening consequences! THIS thermometer placed my son's life at risk! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! It is a waste of money...I expect no refund...it is land-fill-fodder! (and since it's mostly made of plastic, it will remain a thousand year testiment to incredibly poor manufacturing quality...unless I smash it before I trash it.)

Vorrei dire a coloro che hanno scritto che non è preciso perché con due misurazioni una di seguito all'altra da una lettura diversa: è normale... anche il termometro a mercurio lo fa. Il nostro corpo non ha una temperatura costante durante la giornata ed anche da un minuto all'altro. Quindi che la prima misurazione sia, ad esempio, 36,5°, ,a seconda 36,6°, la terza 36,4° è perfettamente normale. Quindi prima di dire che non funziona o che non è preciso informatevi bene su come funziona la temperatura del corpo umano: non è un corpo inanimato che mantiene la temperatura per un certo periodo.
