Yes, it can be used for that purpose, but there are other pine bark chips on the market. These are very fine/small and also is very expensive for the amount that you receive. I would only use these fine chips for special uses.

Good question! I would “think”it would be a neutral, as I don’t know how to test Ph of rock. I use it only for extra drainage and aeration in my cactus and succulent mix. You may want to write to the company and ask before you buy, or run your own test if you have equipment. Please share info when you get it.
