Review: A must for a true Lego builder - As far as Legos go I know very little other than you can spend a lot of money to buy large design sets with thousands of pieces, but it seems there is another whole level of Lego builds that require specialized parts called "Technics" for freestyle building and design I learned this from my 9 year old grandson who has been absolutely fascinated and absorbed by Legos since he was 5 years old. He can easily manage a multiple thousand piece model build, but what he really enjoys is free building, and it seems that in order to do so you need random parts called Tech pieces When I gave this Technic set to him he went ballistic, you would have thought I just gave him a new puppy, he was thrilled. I guess it depends on your understanding of Legos, but for me I have basically none, but as per my grandson this set of Technic parts are incredible, They are power units, which are battery powered and allow you to connect multiple motors, lights and so much more to bring your freestyle lego builds to life and allow movement and articulation through the supplied remote controller When I first opened this pack I was surprised there were no instructions, I figured for a 9 year-old this would be a bust and a waste of money as it would be far to complicated. But they did included a scannable OC code that opened a very good instruction video that was extremely helpful, once we figured out how to connect everything my grandson was off and running, this took less than an hour Within an hour he had built two remote control articulating Lego figures that he could control with the supplied these power packs. Needless to say I was floored by his creativity and quick understanding of the complexity of using these type of Technic parts in his Lego builds, but them again I have seen him watch countless hours of Lego building on YT I am absolutely amazed at what creativity these so called Technic Lego parts can do and inspire I highly recommend this Lego Motorized Techkit and will certainly be buying my grandson many more Review: Perfect - My son loved it a lot

Decent Motor Boxes, but Limited Power
These motor boxes are decent but definitely have their limitations. They aren’t particularly powerful, so they fall short when used in lego RC cars or other builds that require more strength and torque. You’ll also need a receiver to get much use out of them, which can be a bit restricting. On top of that, they’re not the most efficient when it comes to battery use or size. That said, they do serve their role as a basic power source, especially for smaller projects that don’t demand much power. If you’re looking to motorize lightweight cars or add simple functions that don’t require a lot of torque, these will do the job. Just don’t expect them to perform well for heavy-duty builds.

Good quality replacement for #8881
This is a straight replacement for #8881 Power Function Battery Box. Since you can't even buy the box from lego anymore I am happy to see alternatives bring made available. Make sure that this box is compatible with whatever set of motors/controllers you are using as Lego has a plethora of different options for motorizing your sets, which have varying wildly in compatibility. The boxes are an exact match to the original. The switch was a little stiff on one of them, but nothing that working it back and forth a couple dozen times couldn't fix. I didn't have any problems with removing and replacing the battery covers or the batteries themselves. Whether you are looking for an extra battery pack for a new MOC or you need to replace one that was ruined by rotted batteries, this is a good replacement. A used battery box on bricklink is usually in the $20 range, so getting these two for roughly the same price is a clear win.

A great set of power packs
Most motor sets only come with one power pack, but several motors. That kind of makes it difficult if you want to have several different builds and have them both motorized because only one of them will have a power pack. That's where this set comes in. These power packs are the same ones that come with other sets and they work really well. Each one, takes 6, AA batteries to power them up but that is pretty standard for these types of packs. The connections work seamlessly with the building brick motors and the switches are solid and work perfectly. The plastic that these are made from is a good quality and while it is not as good of a quality as the name branded power packs, they are still fantastic. The best part about these is the price and at just over $10 for each power pack, it is a very affordable option to enable you to power up more than one motor build at a time. Love it.
