EV-805 TENS EMS 4 Channel Rechargeable Combo Machine Unit - Muscle Stimulator + Back Pain Relief and Management- 24 Programs/Backlit (Including Electrodes Pads)

Arrives in a very nice Apple-like white box. Very well packaged and presents as a high quality product. Instructions and such are quite a read. This thing is fairly complicated in operation with bunch of different settings. There's a learning curve here to be sure. Did best I could to understand how it worked. So got two of the skin pads out, hooked up to Channel 1, placed them on my lower thigh and upper thigh. Program 20, level 40 intensity. It definitely puts out some electrical stimulation. Over the next week or so, I'll figure out more about fine tuning pad placement and such. Overall, the unit is very high quality construction, is very solid. I'm using this more for rehabbing my leg muscles due to neuropathy and we'll see if it can help.

I bought this unit to help with ongoing back tightness and it has worked better than I expected. The strength of the pulses is solid and the four channels make it easy to work on more than one area at a time. Whether it is lower back, shoulders, or the muscles around the spine it hits deep enough to loosen everything up. The controls are straightforward. You pick your mode, set your intensity, and you are good to go. No confusing menus or guesswork. The rechargeable battery lasts a long time which is great because I use it a few times a day when my back starts acting up. The pads stick well and the output feels consistent. Build quality is good. The unit feels sturdy and the screen is bright and easy to read. It is small enough to take anywhere but powerful enough that you never feel like you are wasting your time. If you deal with muscle stiffness or lingering back tension this is a great tool to have. It does exactly what it promises and provides real relief. I am glad I picked it up.

This thing is great. I wanted a 4 channel device, which is great because you can focus on more areas and also one setting might be great for one area but too much for another. Using for back and neck pain on tens mode. I got it yesterday and used it last night and tonight. Very easy to figure out, and even though I was chopping wood and working on drywall yesterday, and working on my son's car, I wasn't on severe pain today, and I normally would be. Would recommend.

Edit: There is a software issue involving channels three and four, where they stay on past when the timer shuts off. Their intensities occasionally change as well. Manufacturer obviously made this by modifying software from a stable two channel unit because channels one and two always work correctly. Still a good device. Pros Good quality gel pads Easy to understand controls VERY powerful intensity settings (I only need level 45 of 99 to get the job done) Back lit Good EMS programs (I like #21 and #24) Resets intensity to 0 on power off, but remembers other settings Four channels instead of just two Battery lasts a very long time Cons Unit is BIG, like a large super thick smart phone (probably for the long lasting battery No carrying case (no big deal for me) On one occasion, while adjusting settings while running, unit direct total output of all four channels to channel four. Rather painful but a quick power off/on stopped it. No problems before or since. Conclusions I now have two EMS units and a TENS unit. You get what you pay for, and the extra cost is well worth it to me. The ability to use 4 channels, with lots of power, and not run down the battery makes this worth twice what I paid for it.

GET THIS!!! I've used tens machines before but this is the best one ever. I got this after spinal fusion surgery, to replace my old one that broke. It's perfect! I have no cons, only pros. IT IS VERY EASY TO USE! Just put the pads on according to the included chart, plug the cord in, and turn it on. Check with your Dr to make sure the settings you use are ok. I use it for pain relief and to help stop muscle spasms. I keep it on tens mode, program 1 all day. It really helps to reduce spasms frequency and intensity. My mom and I both have muscular dystrophy and injuries to our backs from car accidents. I just had surgery to fuse my lumbar spine. She can't do surgery due to other health issues, so I let her use this a few hours and she felt MUCH better. This comes with a bunch of pads, but you can use them over& over so these will last a really long time. The battery lasts forever. I use it a few hours daily, and it still keeps going for a good 2 weeks. When you do need a recharge, it goes fast. The case it comes with is ready to toss in my work bag. Cables are long, and is you do want something different they are easy to get at medical supply places or online. TIPS: Make sure you have no creams or lotions on the pads or skin placement site. Keep at least 1 inch between pads. DO NOT LET THEM TOUCH! That hurts, and it can short out the machine. When you remove the pads, don't just pull the cable. Hold the pad and the cable firmly and peel it off. The adhesive is strong so it can be tough if you don't have enough hand strength to cut a steak. Don't let the sticky pads touch each other. Follow the pad chart... You have to put the red and black parts in the right spots, not too close & not to far apart. Put the pads on, and THEN plug them in& turn on the machine. It hurts like hell to try to move them with the machine on. During use make sure the whole pad lies flat on your skin. When they lift part way they sting pretty bad. Most important of all, start out slowly and show it to your Dr and/or physical therapist. Both can show you how to set this up safely. The EMS part works differently, and you can actually pull a muscle if you do it for too strong or for longer than it tells you to. So be careful. You won't get all 'bulked and buff' by using it lying on the sofa all day. But it will strengthen you enough so doing walking or PT exercises don't hurt like crazy. You have to get up and move to get better. Good luck and if you get this I'm sure you'll be very happy!

The device works well and easy to use. I have been using it for few months. I did notice some improvements to and firming of my abdomen muscles.

Update Feb 5, 2025 I had a very minor issue with the 805's belt clip screw. I called iStim to make sure I wouldn't void the warranty by opening the battery compartment to retrieve a small backing washer for the clip--I didn't need a replacement unit. iStim immediately responded to my email, and quickly sent me a brand new unit and kit. Not only is this the best and most powerful TENS I've used, but iStim's customer service is above and beyond. Thank you! ------------------------------------ Original review of the EV-805: I have herniated discs and spinal stenosis, so TENS units have turned out to be a godsend, despite the hassle of getting wired up every day, doing acrobatics to place the pads near my t-spine, and dealing with itchy skin and rashes. My old prescription TENS 3000 unit is good, but I needed something with 4 ports and more power/intensity. The 3000 is great because it’s tiny, completely analog, has a single 12v removable battery, and delivers a “decent” amount of power with new batteries. I tried wire doublers that run 8 pads on 2-channels, but they lowered intensity to 1/2 *when* they worked. I was searching for a 4-channel analog with at least 80 amH per channel. ChatGPT recommended the iStim EV-805. Size reference My biggest concern over the purchase was size. I couldn’t get a sense of reference from pictures. So in my pics here, I arranged the EV-805 alongside the TENS 3000, a scotch tape dispenser and computer mouse. Clearly, the 805 is significantly larger than the 3000, but it’s still portable. This is because the height and width are pretty spot on with my iPhone 13 Pro in its protective case (the regular sized iPhone, not the Max). The depth is just a fraction talled than two iPhones w/case stacked together. I think it’s probably too thick for most pants pockets, but it comes with a strong belt clip. The clip is good, but I’m always concerned that exiting a car or squatting down will knock the clip off my belt. I found a solution to this (below). Next concern was power. From what I gleaned in my research, the iStim EV-805 is the most powerful consumer TENS available. Pros -It puts out 100amH per channel against the 3000’s 80amH. While 100% intensity might be overkill for most people, I usually crank mine (intensity and settings like depth) to 100%. For moderate pain, I think people would typically max out at under 50%, depending on the settings. -Many different manual and interesting pre-programmed settings let you dial in the right therapy. 24 pre-set programs; 5 TENS modes, and 3 EMS modes. -Most of the settings I need are intuitive, so a manual isn’t necessary (provided that you have a basic familiarity with TENS settings and aren’t intimidated by simple technology). If you never used a TENS before, keep the intensity low and play around the settings. Definitely not rocket science. -The iStim electrodes are high quality pigtail types. I personally use both the pigtail and snap connectors. You can buy snap electrodes and wires on Amazon. The snaps have certain advantages… like a greater variety of available electrode sizes and shapes. -Low battery indicator that I can’t figure out how to read -Still “fairly” lightweight and portable. Using cases mentioned below, I fasten mine to a backpack strap while on my motorcycle. - Comes with two placement instruction cards that show optimal electrode configurations for TENS and EMS applications. - Exceptional battery life between charges. I run mine morning through night at 60-100% on all four channels, and haven’t needed a recharge yet. - A hinged safety cover prevents buttons from being accidentally pushed. -Big, easy-to-read digital display Cons: - My biggest “issue” is that after setting something, it continues to blink in settings mode and I can’t figure out how to stop the blinking. I tried all the buttons and depressed them for different lengths. There is nothing in the manual about this. - Sometimes the unit will become unresponsive to button inputs after a session ends. But this is an intentional feature that pauses between sessions. I override it by powering off and on. Honestly not a big deal as it takes 2 seconds, but I'd prefer a manual override. - While you can adjust intensity independently for each channel, you cannot independently program the modes like pulse rate, width, and timer. In other words, apart from intensity (power), the same mode or settings apply to all 4 channels. - My biggest complaint: the charging light isn’t color-blind friendly. The red and green are indistinguishable for me. - The instruction manual is “meh” when you want to learn how, for example, to exit the settings. - A unit at this price-point should come with a travel case. Travel cases are important because you’ll want to organize your accessories in one place. I experimented with various Amazon cases, so I recommend a few below. I highly recommend the EV-805. 5 stars. It's worth every penny. ================= Alternative to the belt clip: The 805 comes with a belt clip installed. If you are wearing clothes you can’t clip it to (like sweat pants, robes, PJs, underwear, etc), or don’t want extra weight on your belt line, buy a cheap binocular neck strap. I loop the ends around each side of the clip (there’s a hole in the center that makes it possible (see the picture). Then you can safely walk around without fear of dropping it. Especially useful if you have a desk job, since a little wire snag as you get up can send the unit crashing to the floor. Also good for driving. I didn't try the TENS part. But if you need to use this for EMS, don't waste your money. It comes with preset EMS programs. If you try to set your own numbers, it doesn't work. Took me a while to figure it out. Manual not helpful. I'll be returning this. It couldn't even contract my quads on 24 intensity level. My old one contracted my quads at intensity level of 4. Also I don't care that it has lithium ion battery which means after a while you have to throw out the whole unit. My old unit (different brand) uses 9v battery.

Fortunately, these batteries are included in the package, so there's no need to purchase them separately initially.
