My teenager put it together, instructions were hard but he used it as a guide and googled the rest. If you can get past that part its actually really sturdy, we live on a hill and have very windy days… its been about three weeks since its been up and I love we can roll it up every night to see our beautiful sky or inclement weather.

This item is awesome. Easy to put together. Easy to build and easy to hang. I definitely recommend and it's durable

So far the awning is great, providing much needed shade. However, the installation was a nightmare, not 'easy' as described. The video of installation instruction provided does not follow the physical installation manual, which makes everything confusing. The description is contradictory, stating it is waterproof and windproof, withstanding winds up to 28mph on the Beaumont Scale of 4. Well, on the Beamont Scale, a rating of 4 indicates winds up to 28 KILOMETERS per hour (kmh), not MILES per hour (mph). This converts to only 13-18mph winds. The sticker on the arm of the awning also contradicts the description, stating the awning should not be used in rain, wind, or snow. So which is it? I guess we'll find out soon.

It was an absolute PAIN to put together, the instructions didn’t explain well. But we figured it out after a few tries. Definitely doable for a DIY household. We live in a rural area and have strong winds and so far it’s held up. We do hurry and close it if the winds pick up but there’s been a few times we couldn’t get to it and it held strong.

So pleased with this! As described will buy again.

Awning Broke and Nearly Caused Injury I purchased the Patio Retractable Awning 13 x 8 ft Sun Shade Shelter Cover from the Polar Aurora Store, and unfortunately, my experience has been very negative. The awning broke shortly after installation, and it actually fell on me, almost hitting my head. This is a serious safety hazard and makes the product completely unsafe to use. Not only did the frame collapse, but the material and construction appear very poor in quality. I expected a sturdy and reliable product, but instead, it turned out to be dangerous. Now the awning is useless, and I have no safe way to reinstall or return it. I am requesting a full refund because this product is defective and poses a risk of injury. I strongly advise others to read the reviews carefully before purchasing. I hope the company and Amazon take responsibility for ensuring customer safety and quality control.

DO NOT BUY THIS AWNING!! 1. Instructions are terrible. You'll find yourself wondering well that doesn't make any sense. One picture marks the parts as like 6-1 but then it refers to a different piece as 6-1. Some drawings like page 4 show something needs to be upright but there's no way of actually telling what part goes up! 2. None of the parts are actually labeled. Just drawings with numbers on them which don't always refer to the same part. 3. There are better retractable awnings out there with much better instructions and materials. This damn thing bends like a bow! It needs 5 brackets not 3. Had to order two more brackets so the bar against the house remains straight. 4. ITS NOT WATERPROOF!!! It's just used for the sun. If it rains or snows you're out of luck. They don't mention that till the very last pages when everything is set up.
