On opening the package the stand was a bit wet which was bizarre as it was thoroughly packaged in lots of brown paper and was in a box in a box which was completely dry. The base had I believe a bolt or something inside which after a couple hours I couldn't get it out of the small opening. I filled the base with little green peeble granules which took me a few hours and when I was attaching the rubber to the base it was too long so I had to cut it to fit it. It was very easy to assemble and has become a bit more weighted with the granules.
