is this kit good for men of color?

It should be fine. Everyone's hair benefits the same from the ingredients in the beard oil and the balm. The brush, however, may not be very useful to you. I'm not a person of color, but I do have somewhat coarse and curly facial hair. I found that the brush has very soft bristles that simply don't brush my hair well. The comb might be up to preference. It has big teeth with somewhat wide spacing, which is good because it won't snag your hair, but that also means it's not the best as really separating the hairs and making the beard as full as possible. I use a plain old plastic hair comb with tighter spacing for this reason, but the drawback is that it does snag here and there.
