Lawson Hammock Blue Ridge Camping Hammock and Tent,

I was really excited about this concept. I prefer tents because I like having a flat, stable floor, but have been soaked by leaky tent floor seals and have had difficulty finding flat places to pitch them. I have used a Hennesy Expedition hammock but could never quite get comfortable. The spreader on the Lawson hammock, and the ability to pitch as a tent when no trees are available promised to make this my primary shelter choice. Things I love about the hammock - easy set up - solid construction - spreaders minimize sides wrapping your body and provide more usable space than found in other hammocks - great rain tarp with minimal drip down hanging straps Although I gave the hammock 5 stars I am not satisfied with it as a tent. Its really more of a bivy sack. When I set it up on the ground the pole arches do not give me enough clearance to sleep comfortably on an air mattress. If the manufacturers put in an extra pole section on each arch it would solve the problem. As it is there is just not enough height when set up on the ground to be a viable tent.

Extremely easy to set up. Super comfortable. Well made. I weigh 265 and this was very roomy for me. Slept it it one full night so far and had a great experience. Well worth the money. I did not have to use the rain shield so I do t know how that performs.

Very hard to get in and out of because it tipps ove so easily. Spins upside down as soon as you put the pols in making it hard to put the rainfly on. Unless you are under 5 ft. tall you have to tip it towards you, stick your head and shoulders in and then dive directly into the center to get in (otherwise you just tip it completely sideways and your sleeping bag hits the ground at your feet). After you finally make it in you better hope you landed in your sleeping bag perfect or you tip over trying to get in it too. After 2 hours of 1 inch movements to get zipped in fully, I woke up every 15 min to try to scoot back into the center ALL DAMN NIGHT. This morning, the bottom had streached so much I was basically sleeping in a V up position. Get a tent and sleep on the ground. At least then you won't get dizzy trying to fall asleep.

This is a quality piece of outdoor gear. Overall very pleased after using for several camping/outdoor trips. A couple small gripes about the product... It takes some tweaking to find the sweet spot for set up; ie the correct height and sag, dependent on the tree distance. You cant just use a one size fits all approach to set up. And, it can be a bit tippy depending on how its set; if its too tight, it becomes more tippy. Too much sag and its uncomfortable. If using a nylon/slippery surface sleeping bag you will find yourself sliding down (I am going to try some grip/spray adhesive on the bottom of the hammock to help prevent this. Also, a sleeping pad helps the slippage). I have tried guy lines but found them not to be overly helpful because once you sit in the hammock the guy lines become loose and not effective essentially unless you are rolling completely over. Sleeping on a diagonal within the hammock seems to be most comfortable and stable for me. Also, the hammock can be hot during summer camping, not a lot of airflow due to the tight bug netting (good/bad). The zipper looks to be a potential fail point in the future, not overly heavy duty, but I have not had any problems yet. Since the zipper/door needs to be completely opened before climbing in/out, the far end can be a bit tricky to reach. One last mention, that when using the hammock as a stand alone tent on the ground, I found it to be not roomy at all. I am just a tad under 6' and around 200lbs, and I had very limited space in almost every direction. All that being said, it is much preferred and more comfortable than the standard ENO hammocks that I have used. The spreader bars make the Lawson very comfortable (no cocooning) and it is an easy unit to set up. The rain fly is easy to attach and is effective. I like that its all one relatively affordable package; the easy to adjust straps, bug net, and rain fly. Its not the lightest package, but is my go to hammock for short or long adventures that I presume will last for a long time.

First let me say I had used my old hammock ten for many years and liked it a lot, but this tent is so much more comfortable. It has a nice stable platform; in that it allows you to lay almost flat. So I have used the tent and loved it. But…I messed up and damaged it. I contacted the seller explaining what I had done wrong with it and the damaged I had caused; so they could let me know how I could get it repaired, they simply sent me a replacement. This is almost too kind as it was my fault and no issue with the tent. So, Kudos to “Getoutland”!

I'd make this purchase again. Took 5 minutes to put together. This included adding an underquilt. Before taking off on a long A.T. hike, sprayed it down with a garden hose. Everything stayed dry on the inside. When you sinch it up, make sure you pull it tight. This will prevent sag and it will be more stable in the wind. My initial fear was how long it would take to assemble, especially after being exhausted from hiking. The ease of assembly was a blessing as it helped me get off my feet quicker. There were a couple times I used it as a tent on the ground. I brought 4 tent spikes for such an episode. It worked great on the ground as well. Really happy with this purchase.

I just tried the hammock this weekend and it is great. Can't attest on durability yet but looking at it its clear that its good workmanship. Very easy to install and for the size and comfort that it provides the weight is minimal. Highly recommended.

First time using it on a four day trip at Two Wheels of Suches. Setup was easy but you will need some more para cord for the rain fly and it took a few night to get the sleeping position right but I still woke up refreshed.

The Lawson hammock is an awesome piece of kit. the quality is there in every aspect. I can now sleep actually proper comfortable sleep for a weekend in this brilliant hammock,if I were to camp for a week or 2 U can set it up on the ground for a night or 3 if your back is sore. A lot of people say it's too heavy 2.3 kg (straps,poles,rainfly), but the comfort u get is worth that wieght.
