Can this be mounted in the ceiling of the soffit?

You probably need to rotate the motion sensor head about 180 to get the angle correct. I had to do that. The unit is labelled for wall mounts, not under the eave mounting. The way it comes from the factory it is set up for that angle. Mine would not have worked had I not rotated the sensor head. It is not easy to do because the nut holding the motion head is thin and inside the light housing where it is hard to grip with pliers. Moral: always imagine how you are going to mount the light and then adjust it before you get on the ladder.

Is this waterproof? I have seen complaints about the bulbs filling with water. The wall I need to install on does have exposure during storms.

Because the bulbs are not replaceable they're sealed and therefore waterproof. The unit as a whole comes with a gasket that you install in the junction box and makea it weather tight. Over time, the material degrades and it becomes necessary to replace it.

how long does it stay on?

Dear H, there is a rotary switch on the rear of the motion sensor that controls the time on. I want to say 1-6 min. You can also turn your power switch, which controls the light, off and back on quickly and the light will stay on till reset by turning the power switch off, waiting ten seconds, and turning switch back on. This will restore your previous settings.

Is this made in China?

Really good question. They want to keep it as a secret,l look everywhere and didn’t find out where it was it made, unfortunately it probably made in China.
