I have owned another crepe maker previously ( still do), that Is hand held and you dunk the cooking surface Into a tray and it sticks to it so they come out appropriately thin. I always have a hard time getting them to come off nicely and end up making a mess. This particular one ( that I am reviewing) is so much easier. I just put the batter on and spread it with the spreader. The long stick thing makes it easy to turn them over and then remove them, and they come out perfect every time. I purchased this even though I already had something to use because some friends and I had been going out for crepes a lot and was getting expensive, so wanted a more commercial size to play recipe’s with. I have had it for a few months now, and use it almost daily, and it is perfect. I could not have done better. It was the least expensive one of this size I could find. A: The basic idea is the same, I’d say it should work for that.

A: No , it does not smoke the kitchen and it is for crepes , I have not tried with pancakes yet

**Q: What is the maximum temperature it will reach?in f degrees?**
A: I am not sure about that because I have found the crepe maker more than hot enough for my cooking needs.I use strictly for crepe making or similar recipes.
