This is perfect. It works really well since the blades are super sharp. The handle is ergonomic and overall, it's a great value. My wife recently started making sourdough bread and she says it's extremely helpful for her when she is carving out designs on the bread. She says it's really accurate and it seems pretty durable. The length of the blade is just right it's not too deep and not too shallow. You do have to push really hard to extend it and make it lock in place. Initially, I thought it would break but you just have to apply a little bit of forward force on the slider. When I was looking for these I saw some of them that won't stick to the side of the refrigerator. This one had no issue. The magnet is strong enough to hold on the side of our fridge.

I have started my sourdough baking journey recently and have been baking lots of sourdough bread! The kitchen knife just doesn't work as well when I'm trying to score so I decided it was time to buy a bread lame. I love the color purple I got! It's very easy to use and sharp enough to score the cuts that I need. Easy to clean and the blade stays in well. I would definitely say this was well worth the money and it even comes with extra spare blades. Edit: Almost one year later just want to update. I have been loving this bread lame and it has kept up wonderfully. I haven't even changed the blade yet and it's still VERY sharp. So sharp, I made a dumb mistake and accidentally cut myself pretty deep. I was just trying to use my fingers to take a piece of dough off the blade and the blade sliced me in the process. It was a deep cut and I barely touched it. That was my bad but now you know, you REALLY are getting a sharp blade to score your sourdough! Lol

Gets the job done but the blades seem flimsy and not that sharp. Takes several cuts each time.

This is the easiest Lame to use. I love that the blade retracts so I don't have to worry about slicing my finger (like I did on a previous one). I also like the magnet, so I have it on my frig where it's easy to access...no getting lost in the drawer.

I bake a lot of sourdough bread and scoring is very important. I had a traditional bread lame, where the razor blade has to be bent to clamp on the support, and that one isn't very safe. This one, however, does not have that issue! The blade slides in and out and it's completely covered and straight. It's easier and safer to replace, and also much safer to handle and store. The blade is kept straight, so I had to adjust my technique, but the cuts are clean (they depend on the blade anyways). The grip is also magnetic, so I can just attach it to the fridge door.

This products works great until you need to change the blade. There are no directions on how to change it. I was able to change it but then it would not retract or go back together correctly. I emailed the company using the email provided on the back of the box for instructions. The email is invalid.

Works way better than the long handled lames I've tried. It being so small makes it easy to hold we well and the blade is kept inside so it's not just out in the open, which makes it safer to have in a house with kids.
