First I bought the 4.0kW to supply an old Bridgeport. It has performed flawlessly right from the start, at this time 15 months later. Five stars for that one. After that initial positive experience, I bought the 7.5kW to supply an even older lathe. My mistake was ordering it months in advance of when I knew I'd have the time to install it, so now Amazon support has long expired. This second one does not power up, at all. Error codes? It does not even turn on, no lights, no output, nothing. Is it possible I installed it incorrectly? Maybe, but I installed the first one perfectly, and the second one the same way. Tested on different circuit, still nothing. Zero stars for this one, so we're averaging 2.5 stars now. The company claims great support for a year after the sale, and I've read of some positive experiences. It's been a couple days now with no response whatsoever, so now I'm dropping it to an even Two stars, and ordering a new alternative from a competitor. Since the installation is all ready to go now, I'll know if the next one functions immediately upon delivery, solidly inside Amazon's support window. UPDATE: It took several days to get a service response, but after only a couple exchanges, they volunteered to replace the faulty unit. The replacement works perfectly.

I used this to power an old 10Hp metal turning lathe. We don't have 3 phase power in our garage and I didn't want to get a phase converter. This VFD was easy to set up, cheaper to buy than a phase converter, and made the machine safer to operate. I am only running the lathe at 60Hz for now, but tested the variable speed and it works great. Nice and smooth. I may be back for another VFD once I get my hands on a milling machine.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I have been using this VFD on my 7.5hp 16" Delta radial arm saw for about 2 years now. It has been working perfectly. I also have some name brand VFD's to run my 3 phase machines on Single phase. These inexpensive VFD's are a lot easier to setup. They have a fraction of the possible setup parameters of my Hitachi VFD's but I don't have any need for the fancy parameters and they really just get in the way making initial configuration more difficult. If your income depends on the proper functioning of your machinery I can see why you would want to use a name brand VFD with good support and a good warranty. But if you are a hobby guy like me these VFD's are a great value!

Strong inverter. Used 10 HP for our 5 HP motor (mill) - best fit. Excellent customer care. Spoke each day (would take a day to respond as we are in Canada) but received detailed messages and videos so we could fine tune our needs.

I'm currently dealing with the breaking resistor ...scam? I don't know what the deal is but after many emails back and forth I was told the top of their line 7.5kw model is the only one that comes ready to accept a resistor and so I shelled out the extra cash for it, many emails later i was told a 1000W 75ohm resistor was acceptable for this unit.. with everything wired as per their videos I hit start and let the bandsaw get up to speed, as soon as I hit the stop button it VIOLENTLY EXPLODED with my hand on the unit! sparks blew 3 feet out of the side vents in both directions. First I was told the problem was that my motor had to be three phase so I sent a photo confirming it is indeed a three phase motor. next my wiring was wrong so I sent photos of my wiring only to be told it was wrong with advice to connect it exactly as I had it. Finally, after sending a home video showing all my connections and terminations I'm told I connected my resistor wrong.. get this.. "I should connect to the brackets that hold the resistor in place instead of the coil terminals" What!? that sounds like an expensive jumper and not a resistor. the unit was actually running my bandsaw but if breaking is not a viable function why sell it as having it and then run me in circles when it blows up!? I'm told they're sending another unit, if they do I guess I won't try to use a breaking resistor as I can't get useful or accurate information from the source. I've seen videos of these units with a resistor working, was I given bogus information on the resistor value, can anyone confirm? I have a 220 3hp 2.2kw 60hz 9.1A motor in delta configuration running a 24" bandsaw.
