Operations Management For Dummies

This book was purchased as an e-book as well as an audiobook it was paired together with it. All the audio books that I've listened to, and that's nearly two dozen, but this has the most easy to listen to narration for the technical subject. I know exactly which chapters to come back to to study in depth, but every single chapter was highly relevant to the real world experiences of supply chain management and operations management I cannot say this enough. Put in the 13 hours and listen to it cover to cover.

WITH THIS BOOK THE "FOR DUMMIES" SERIES IS NOW GETTING SERIOUS. THE DUMMIES FORMAT IS WONDERFUL. COMPLEX TOPICS ARE EASILY BROKEN DOWN SO THAT A BEGINNER OR EVEN AN ADVANCED STUDENT WILL FIND IT VERY USEFUL. OPERATION MGT. FOR DUMMIES IS NEAR PERFECTION. CLEAR AND TO THE POINT. IT WILL NOT MAKE YOU A MANAGEMENT SCIENTIST OVERNIGHT BUT WILL DEFINITELY GIVE YOU A GOOD FOUNDATION. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE "OPERATIONS RESEARCH FOR DUMMIES" AS A FOLLOW-UP TO THIS BOOK. THANK YOU!

Easy to read and understand. It highlighted all of the critical points of operations and provided helpful formulas and tips.

The book explains in plain english the various details that you need to know in order to be able to use the operations management as a course to credit in school or as a way of even starting a business if you want. It is a great book and worth the money you spend on it.

Disclaimer: Haven't read any other Dummies books. I'm reading this for my small business. In hindsight Ops Mgmt feels like it belongs in a textbook and doesn't quite fit the Dummies format. The book gets deep into math. For example Ch 8 Inventory Management requires comfort with statistics. Even though I was good at stats in college, that was a long time ago and I just wasn't able to follow some parts of this book. The book provides a tool-belt of equations but doesn't do a great job of explaining how they get to those equations.

“You may have just been promoted into a position of operations management from another field”. Yes, I am an R&D veteran - DFSS (design for 6 sigma) black belt. This is exactly the kind of book I am looking for - 1) a foundation or framework on how to run operations 2) to see whether or not my thoughts extended from DFSS fit into operations. Also I learned gladly that, among the “ten mistakes that new operations managers make”, I have none of them with my thoughts. Last, please forgive my English, I am not a native speaker.

Great book for a novice....then work your way up to more advanced material or if you get a COO job unexpectadly

Short style excerpts but worked for what I needed it for at the time (operations management class for college). I pulled out some useful information for some of the papers I had to write for the class.

Great book to introduce yourself in the complex world of Operations Management

Although this is a ref book I read it front to back. Operations management is the core of business and this book help me understand why. I also have knowledge of HOW to use this new knowledge in my own business regardless of why type of business.

Excellent read. Helps the average Joe understand the basic fundamentals of OM.
