Over a period of around a month I worked towards a decent overall level of saturation of Vit C in my body - taking say 4-8 grams a day instead of 1-2 - as I was under significant stress and making a significant change in diet (after reading the Yeast Connection I was trying to bring my body's Candida Albicans imbalance back into line, having been prescribed the indiscriminate modern medicine approach of very strong broad spectrum antibiotics to deal with an intestinal amoeba in Mexico 12 years previously and never being the same digestively and weight-wise since). In contrast to other Vitamin C preparations taken, during this time I never suffered from acidity & reflux which at certain moments occurred with other Vit C preparations (although to be fair my diet in the other cases was more pro-Candida Albicans producing. Meanwhile, a very persistent (6 month old) ringworm on the tops of both feet disappeared 3 weeks into the change in diet, which may or may not be attributable to the Vit C, but curiously I have been told the Vit C does not make the levels in one's body more acid, but rather helps make them more alkaline. It has not returned and from whatI understood of what The Yeast Connection says (a book available here on Amazon), it is a relation of the Candida Albicans family. Also, a prolonged exposure to very strong tropical sun for 7+ continuous hours (before & after the zenith) in the ocean (I am a surfer of 35-plus years' experience) resulted in a slight appearance of minor irritation on the lips for 1-2 days when usually during previous moment (even as a teenager) they blistered and sometimes produced cold sores as a reaction under the same circumstances. That would suggest to me my body was better equipped to deal with damage and respond rapidly to ameliorate it. (I eat a healthy diet of veg with & fruit, a small portion of red meat maybe once every week -10 days, chicken and fish plus other supplementary vitamins and little in the way of processed foods other than bread (even before changing my diet, which now excludes yeast-based foods). Make what you will of it. I am a believer in Vit C and now in Solgar's product. Hope this helps you make a decision.
