Really fun to assembly kept me sober 😂
I had so much fun with this! Great to build focus and patience. Fun and for mature age. Is not easy but is fun and entertaining. Got some delicate parts but is a great fit for a show case.

Functional fun
This was my first wood puzzle kit that I have assembled. I was amazed at how precisely all the pieces assembled. The pieces were easy to remove from the boards, and for the most part easy to fit into place. I can tell you that I did not break even one piece of the puzzle during assembly. They do provide extra pieces of many smaller parts, just in case you need them. I did take the advice of other builders and work on top of a towel. Should you then drop a small piece it wouldn't bounce away. The other good advice is to sand all parts to smooth the edges. Also, use plenty of wax when instructed to do so. It seems like a small piece of wax that they give you, but it is plenty large enough to apply it liberally. The puzzle will have to sit level to work correctly. Once level, only small adjustments were made to have it working smoothly. It was a very enjoyable build. I am sure to purchase another!

Difficult, but well worth it. Attention to detail is key. Lots of fun.
Although this was difficult, it was highly rewarding. You actually make the tools required to build it. I did break two pieces. One of them I had to glue myself (glue not included) and the other had a replacement part. It took a few weekends to put it all together and I totally enjoyed it. The description they have above is in pigeon English but the manual is extremely well written. I cannot overestimate how much fun I had putting this together and playing with it after it was done. Sometimes the marbles do jump out of the runs but it's all up to the randomness of where the balls fall, which makes it more fun. I would highly recommend this for the aspiring clockmaker or aged Lego builder. Be careful getting the pieces out of the frames so you do not break them. And read and re-read the instructions. You will be well rewarded. They say that glue is included in some kits but mine did not come with it. You do not need glue at all unless you break something. It says some kits do not come with wax (needed for lubricating parts). Mine did. But it says that due to import rules you might not get some. If you don't have any, then use the wax from a tea light. I cannot overestimate how much I enjoyed this.

Amazingly intricate model
Who ever designed this thing was a genius. The attention to detail and the precise cutting of all the pieces is astounding! I am very impressed. Everything punches out well and fits exactly as indicated in the assembly manual. They even supply you with three specialized tools that you assemble, one of which is entirely necessary and it would be very difficult to build the machine without. They also supply two small screwdrivers to attach the tiny screws that are needed here and there. It looks daunting at first but the guide walks you through each step with clean, detailed illustrations. The only issues are the ones that come from not paying close attention to the call-outs on the pages. It took me 4 days to assemble generally doing two sessions a day (if you work too long at any one given time you are likely to get a real strain on your neck from hanging your head so long (at least I would). So, I worked a while in the morning and then again late in the afternoon. So, after all the care and attention I used to assemble this together it was a shame it didn't fully work when I was done. I can't say it was the kit's fault or some tiny angle I didn't get right. It does work but some of the little "tricks" on the various paths don't always work right and the balls just stop or don't follow the path. I've looked and can't figure out why. But, it still works well enough to show to friends and have them marvel at my creative prowess. A few tips should you tackle this beast. 1. Take your time. 2. DO NOT punch everything out at once! 3. Take each stage as a separate "puzzle" - punch and gather just what is called for and then complete that part before moving to the next. 4. I sanded every burr off of each piece whether called for or not. But be careful as some pieces have little nubs that could easily be sanded away. 5. There is plenty of wax to coat gears and other sliding surfaces so be thorough. 6. There are a LOT of extra parts (see image). But I can say that I never had a single piece break. 7. When the instructions call out to "check orientation" of a piece - check it three times. One of the mistakes I made a few times. 8. It is much easier in the beginning as putting the large assemblies together can be tricky. Use the screwdrivers to gently nudge a piece you can't get your fingers to. 9. Make sure that when you get the crank attached that each part is spinning smoothly as they are added. 10. HAVE FUN - it's not a race.

Age restriction is no joke
I am putting this together with a 9 year old. They would not be able to do this on their own -- but we knew that going into the purchase. It's really fun to put together as a team -- they do what they can (which is quite a lot), while I do the fiddly bits like removing the delicate pieces from their mold, managing the teensy little washers that hold the axels together and quality assurance/troubleshooting for assemblies. Quality of the pieces is really high. Instructions are great. And so far, assemblies seem to work, and do what they do in really clever ways. Sometimes an assembly will feel flimsy, and then the next piece will add the missing rigidity. I feel like I'm in good hands with the designer of this toy. This is going to take you HOURS, btw. I'd say we're 8 hours and about halfway through the instructions. (And we're already talking about getting the kit that connects to this one for Christmas). Honestly, this is more than a kid can manage on their own, they would be frustrated. Kiwico and Crunch Labs have much better options for the youngers. But the joy of doing something that initially feels dauntingly hard and seeing it all come together into a beautiful, working object is something potent worth sharing, and this isn't something we would get out of a simpler toy.

Neat ROKR model with a unique and fun ball climbing mechanism.
Neat ROKR model with a unique and fun ball climbing mechanism. One of the fun things about these wooden marble runs is the variety of methods used to get the steel balls up to the highest point. This one is a fun twist on that, with an inventive lift mechanism that works great. The rest of the kit is just as enjoyable to assemble and play with. Would certainly recommend this kit for anyone that loves these wooden marble run kits!

Excellent project to do with my son
Me and my 11 year old really enjoyed making this, it’s a little difficult but excellent how to videos are available on YouTube at Martin’s Assembly Haven. Awesome winter project that takes a lot longer than what the box says. It’s amazing how well built the pieces are and how strong the completed marble run is.
