I ran my blu ray player and 2 gaming systems with Monster Black Platinum HDMI cables to the TV and then ran a Monster optical cable from my TV to the sound bar. I also was able to hook up my Sony CD player directly to the sound bar with Monster RCA cables to the analog input. Good quality cables do make a difference. You can also program the Bose remote to run all your devices. The instruction manual has all the codes you will need to program the remote. I run my system with a Harmony remote which is good also.
