They don’t get too close to the skin but close enough. The foil shaver attachment however is kind of an afterthought and does not work well at all, in fact don’t go anywhere near sensitive areas with the foil shaver because not only does it not work well but the clippers on the edges of it will definitely cut your skin, I know this from experience.
