I loved the idea behind this product and it may have done very well in a lightweight type situation. I tried to use this wreath hanger over an exterior storm door since a standard length hanger left the wreath hanging too high. The wreath was a large 30" wreath, moderately heavy, and the design of the hanger put all of the wreath weight on the hanging hook that slides in a channel on the part that hooks over the door. I hung the wreath and the hook piece promptly slid right out of the channel and to the porch floor. There are little nubs on the hanger that are supposed to "lock" the hook part in place once you adjust it to desired length. For my purpose, these nubs did no thing to lock the thing in place. The instructions showed how to bend and made the hook part tighter or looser in the over the door part - but that says everything. It bent SO easily because the construction and materials were very flimsy. For a very light wreath you may be fine but for me this thing is going in the trash. 12/26 - after I wrote the above review and got an email from the company (Sterling Pear)asking my thoughts on the adjustable wreath holder, I have a revised review to submit. A rep from the company listened to my complaints, apologized for the problems I had and then offered to send out at no charge to me a " redesigned product." She didn't even ask for me to send back the old hanger which was great. The new hanger arrived today and it is a completely different and better product compared to the first. It is sturdy, well made and the packaging said it would hold up to a 20 pound wreath. I think it could hold more. The mechanism is so improved that once the hanger is locked into a position, I can't pull hard enough to make the hook section pull out of the channel. Amazing and well done. If you need a hanger for a heavy wreath be sure you get this new design. If your wreath is lightweight, the old style should do. The customer service and care provided by the folks at Sterling Pear went above and beyond what I expected. I will be a repeat customer for sure!!

A lot of people didn't like this because the bracket that goes over the door was too big and they couldn't close their door. I didn't have this problem as I have a rather large solid wood front door that is 8' tall x 3'6" wide with a door thickness of 1 13/16". I use various types and sizes of wreaths during the year for decoration and all have 2'-3' diameters because my door is so large. Regular hangers are just too short to make the wreath hang low enough on the door. This adjustable one has solved all my problems for whichever seasonal wreath I'm using. I thought at first when I made it longer that the metal seemed a little too thin, but after putting it on the door and hanging the wreath, it had plenty of stability. It is very easy to adjust the length and has a no-slip locking mechanism. The brushed nickel finish looks great with my similarly finished door hardware.

It hangs wreaths and it is adjustable, just don't expect a quality or heavy duty feel. Most of the metal is easily bendable, about like a paper clip. It adjusts by using clickable slots and is functional enough in that regard. There are small felt pads on the inside to prevent scratching. If all you need is an adjustable wreath and hangar and are not picky about heft and quality, this will work just fine. A classic case of getting what you pay for.

I love the ability to adjust length so none of my wreaths will ever block the peephole in my door. Seems sturdy and can handle a variety of wreath sizes and weights. The part that hangs over top of door is sturdy but thin enough so it doesn't rub on door jamb trim, and it's got rubberized padding to protect the door's stain or paint. Color of metal is muted, not glaringly shiny or brassy. Would recommend.

After reading the mixed reviews on this I was hesitant to use it for my 6 pound wreath. I set it up inside with plenty of padding before put it on my front door. My wreath was from Grandinroad and was not cheap. When I first hung it I saw that the hook had bent and I thought for sure it would not hold. I gently closed it up a bit and left it inside for 2 weeks. I have had it hanging outside for the last 10 days (I live in a windy area) and I am happy to say it has held up very well. I have had no issues with it moving around on the door and it has not bent or slipped. I would like something heavier but I have a 10 foot door and longer hangers are hard to find.

This extensible hanger is a good idea. It's easy to operate and does allow you to hang your item at different heights. However, the finish is much darker than brushed nickel...it's more like brushed pewter...so it doesn't match my other finishes. Also the metal is thin and flimsy so you have to be careful how you handle it and how much weight you hang. This item came with free shipping, but even with that, it's overpriced. I wouldn't buy it again.

very adaptable hanger to accommodate different lengths...can use on different sized windows and doors to hang wreaths at appropriate level. also attractive, more so than plastic.

Looks expensive
