Current definition of HD is at least 720P, 700TVL is about 500P (VGA).

Using this for a long range system to watch my dog when unattended

Tough camera, although sand has pitted the outer lens. Works good in low light and can wash out in direct sun some, in all worth the money.

says 5- 12 V board puts off 4.8 and will not run like other cameras, runs great on 9 volt pad. Update, unless you are really good at landing blind this is not the camera for you . I wanna day 90degree FOV great for proximity or 10-15 degree angle. Not so much for racing
