I have had cats most of my life. When we had two cats we used the grocery store variety. This latest cat came with a Breeze litter box, which I love. Then my daughter surprised us with an automatic. The box works great. I admit I thought this litter clumped, which it doesn't. Cat wouldn't use it until I blended it with Breeze pellots. I have never had a litter with worse odor control. It doesnt even last a week before the ammonia is so strong it's awful to clean. It also tracks, even with a mat in front of the box. It says it is returnable, so I will try.

great cat litter. very expensive as buying 3 bags is a breaker. cant buy in large bag.. Still good. I don't know any litter thats dust free from any but like how its white and easy to cleanup smell.. Doesn't take a lot if one cat a little more if 2. More than 2 more separate litter pan. I really like it.

I ordered this because the fine-grain Skoon litter my cat likes has been out of stock since the beginning of September, both here and on their own website. I keep an extra bag on hand but finally used that up and needed something! This is made from the same stuff (diatom pebbles), so I was cautiously optimistic. It's also less expensive: $20 for 8 lbs, where Skoon is $30 for 8 lbs. At first glance, it looks very similar to Skoon's fine grain product, with pebbles the same size but more color variety in the mix. I noticed a slight smell when pouring it into the clean litter pan. Not a bad smell, just different from the plain neutral dry dirt smell of Skoon. The first time my cat went in to use it, she had a lot to say about it - literally, she stepped in, sniffed around and came right back out without using it and meowed at me for a few minutes while I apologized and explained that the people didn't have her regular one so I had to get this one for now. She grudgingly decided to use it 😆 This one is low tracking, about like the Skoon fine-grain. It does not control odor as well as the Skoon brand. I used the same quantity/depth in the litterbox as I do for Skoon, which would last two full weeks with odor well controlled, and even into a third week by adding some zeolite sprinkles (NonScents) after stirring/scooping. I had to start using the zeolite with the Pet Safe litter after six days, and fully change and clean the box on day 11, as the ammonia smell was just overwhelming, and my cat pottied in the atrium in protest. I was scooping poop and stirring the pebbles at least once daily, as I did with the Skoon, but this one just did not hold up. Since Skoon fine-grain is *still* out of stock, I ordered another bag of this one, and will just plan to use a little less to stretch it, and will have to fully change the box every week instead of 2x/month.

I really wanted to love this cat litter because it's diatomaceous earth, which is used for pest control (fleas, tics, ants, roaches, bed bugs, gnats, etc). However, diatomaceous earth dust is horrible for your respiratory system and your cat's. Cat's don't know to not breathe in the dust or to stay away from it. You can see the huge dust cloud it makes when pouring in my first video. And the layer of dust it left on the litter box in my last photo. I'm also not impressed with the amount of tracking that's occurring. You can see all of the pebbles in the anti-tracking mat on the floor in the 2nd picture. We have 3 cats using one Whisker Litter Robot 4 and have been using this litter since Monday. I'm not noticing much smell, but the smell from non-clumping litter normally comes from absorbing the urine after a couple weeks. I'm happy to come back and give this product an extra star if there's no smell in 2 weeks and if I don't have to add a bunch of extra litter. The price for 8 pounds of litter is astronomical, so if it holds up then I'll change my review.

Best cat litter, this is the first cat litter that my cat has not tracked all over the house, it's absorbing the urine used for 1 month before replacing the only thing that is scooped out is the cat poop, the urine absorbs into the litter and it does not smell!

May 2026, so disappointed in this litter. Says it lasts up to two months…maybe for a kitten! I remove poop and keep this thing stirred at least five times a day, first thing in the morning and last thing at night plus 2 or 3 times during the day. I use a whole bag each time because I have a large stainless steel box. It’s deeper than they say is needed so it should have more absorption capacity. THE AMMONIA SMELL STARTS AT AROUND TWO WEEKS AND BECOMES OVERWHELMING. I’ve really been trying to stretch it so that I can get my moneys worth, at least three weeks, but no can-do. It gives me headaches. After four months of using this litter, I’m finally realizing that the headaches start right around the time the 2-1/2 week marks hits. This is a poor value despite the nice concept. I didn’t find it especially dusty and my cat was not tracking it around the house because I use a mat in front of the box. The odor control issue is actually a health issue due to the ammonia. I’ll be calling the company in the morning to complain. Just to reemphasize, the bag says up to two months, and I can’t see how that’s anything other than a gross exaggeration. How can I possibly be getting 1/4 of that duration in a single cat household, with a senior cat who gets her blood and urine checked every six months/is completely healthy. I’ve used other PetSafe products, many, the earliest being 20 years ago. They have a lot of great products and are based here in Knoxville. But this product is a big big letdown.

I have one elderly cat with dilute pee and somehow this litter STILL manages to absolutely reek after 6 days of use, even with the recommended "stirring" to mix it together for better absorption. Sorry, but if I'm paying $41 for what equates to 2 weeks of litter, it should be stirring itself. Absolutely not buying this again, moving to the poowee brand which is a lot cheaper, bigger bags and has much better reviews. Gave it a real go for a few months but it's just not living up to its promises.

I never thought I’d write a review for litter but I am baffled by how bad this product is. I am normally a happy PetSafe customer and will happily continue to buy their premium litter until I find a cheaper alternative but I can promise you this one isn’t. You get 2x as much litter for the same price as their premium products but will run out faster. I have their automatic litter box and had to swap the litter every day because of the foul smell. It smells bad after every use and I finished the whole bag in a week. Their premium litter does a good enough job that I could be out of town for the weekend and come back home to almost no smell. Unfortunately I will keep paying more for the premium litter until my local shop can offer a good and cheaper alternative compatible with my automatic litter box.

I was using other crystals before which the cats did not like. They cats don’t seem to love this one either. The sometimes use the litter box and other times poop on the floor in front of it. If you have picky cats it may not work

It didn't work as expected in the automatic Pet Safe cat litter. My cats were okay with it.
