Amazing 12" Saw at an amazing price
I rarely leave reviews but after reading some of the other reviews, I felt the need to leave one because the product may have been updated. I can't speak on the other sizes, but I bought the 12" circular saw and it has a very thick metal guard. It must have been updated based on safety or customer feedback because I was prepared not to rely on the guard but mine has a very thick and safe one. This saw is a monster and has plenty of power. You simply can't beat it at this price point. I've always wanted a beam saw but they are so expensive for the name brands and are usually 10" unless you go up to the 16" Makita. This 12" size is perfect and it feels like a $250+ dollar unit. Definitely a 5 star purchase.

First impressions
The 12 inch saw does come with a blade guard as shown in the picture. No safety switch which I am happy about, having to press 2 different buttons to operate these newer saws is a pain in the neck and you probably need both hands on the saw anyway as it is a beast. At 15 amps you will probably need a 20 amp circuit breaker to operate this. These are just my first impressions as I have yet to use the saw. The price point is great I decided to try this over spending the extra $600 to $1000 to get an extra 2 inches out of a 16 inch saw. I'll update if i detect any serious problems.

Danger Danger Danger
This product comes defective right out of the box. I ordered 1 and sent it back for a replacement, received new replacement with same defects the first one had, Bottom guide plate edge not square to blade by 1/8th", Leading edge front right hand corner bent up. bottom flat surface of base plate not flat in any direction front to rear, or side to side. I disassembled the second unit from base plate thinking I may be able to salvage some way. It is not repairable! This saw in my opinion is extremely dangerous, no blade guard makes it worse. in a straight cut using a straight edge will bind the saw causing it to possibly kick back due to defects. Amazon is investigating as we speak, SEE Attached Pictures. I never plugged this in to see if it runs or not, never got buy the tune up stage. PICS Show all!

Just OK - Not Stellar - Engineer's Review
So, first it is (no surprise) made in China. Relatively inexpensive at $140 considering nobody makes a circular saw with a 12 inch blade that's not mounted to something like a mitre or table saw ... ergo, not 'hand-held' with anything near a 4 inch cutting depth. [I needed a circular saw to cut through a wall stud behind sheetrock to clear a doorway into a room addition. The only alternative I could find would have been one of those small hand held chain saws - not exactly as precise as one would like.] Regarding this one: On the plus side it has a big horizontal handle on top like a chain saw and it needs it because it is heavy. It has plenty of power as long as you're only cutting soft wood and take your time. Again, though, made in China means the foot plate has metric dimensions (no problem as long as you know). The foot plate is 445mm long which makes it a bit more than 17-1/2 inches with the centerline of the blade right at half that bottomed out (at max cutting depth). The distance from the outside of the plate to the inside of the blade (narrow side) is exactly 50mm which makes that distance just under 2 inches. The foot plate pivots at the front like a regular circular saw and has a big lever looking paddle below the handles to lock down the cutting depth - good design. ... Minus side: It has a blade guard that is very flimsy and wobbly and can easily engage the blade . It really seemed to be more of an afterthought in design... Clearly they designed it more to be mounted upside down (as is depicted) rather than used like a regular circular saw. Overall: Not bad. - If they had given it a decent heavy duty and more precisely rotating blade guard I'd have give it 5 stars instead of just 3.

Works fine.
I don't know much about circular saws. Have several 7" ones but needed a bigger one for a project that would require cuts of 3" depth. Most 10" saws were much more expensive. But this 9" saw was very reasonably priced and works fine. The wrench they included was too short to allow me to remove the blade bolt, had to get a socket wrench. I'm no pro wood-worker; this met my needs.

Good saw with a couple things to know
It works just as you would expect. Two caveats to my working with it so far. No blade guard on the bottom means that you have to have a place to rest it while the blade spins down or hold it. Spin down is 15-20 seconds. This is also a minor concern for storing, you need a way to protect the blade. I’m creating a wooden box for mine. Second. The handle to blade cover spacing is a little narrow so that after 32 cuts today, I have a small popped blister on my 4th knuckle. I am fighting handed and I wear large gloves for a loose point of reference. Otherwise the saw cuts as straight as my crooked eyes allow. Vibration is normal. Noise is normal. weight is about what I’d expect. No plastic where it doesn’t belong. Generally a good saw that will last a long time so I’ll need to find gloves to protect my knuckle from rubbing on the blade cover.
